Description

ADVANCE NOTICE of a "MUST HAVE" Reference Book for all Die-cast metal model collectors. It details the die-cast metal output, mainly of toys and models, of "The River Works", 152 Green Lanes, Palmers Green, north London, U.K. The book: "TOYS THAT TIME FORGOT" (ISBN: 978-0-9539058-1-2) has 156 pages, measures 216mm x 137mm width. There are many COLOURED pictures of products, including wheeled vehicles, toy cap-guns, among many other kinds of playthings. It deals with the era from 1945 to 1956 inclusive, when Die Casting Machine Tools Ltd., [a.k.a. D.C.M.T.] was producing, initially, model cars and lorries for The Crescent Toy Co. Ltd., (then) at Tottenham, London N.15. D.C.M.T. operated from 'The River Works' from 1946 and, 10 years later, also at Hatfield, Hertfordshire. The Hatfield factory under German ownership since Oct 1983, sadly closed down completely in June 1988. The end of an era.

"TOYS THAT TIME FORGOT" is the "new" companion publication to "THE BUMPER BOOK OF 'LONE STAR' DIECAST MODELS AND TOYS 1948-88" compiled by Geoffrey S. Ambridge. £19.50 plus p&p. Enquiries regarding "Toys that time forgot" can be addressed to its author, Geoffrey Ambridge, at e-mail: toysthattimeforgot@rocketmail.com
The retail price is £16.99 GBP plus p&p for Mail Order.

The 'Lone Star' website has 'links' to various segments, i.e. selection of products; the company's history including group photos of former staff and factory scenes. Another shows photos of the annual exhibition held at WHITEWEBBS MUSEUM OF TRANSPORT, Crews Hill, ENFIELD, N. London, where Lone Star collections, including 'OOO' gauge model railway layouts, are put on public display by their owners.
