I know that at least two of you have some yarn that you want to donate
to Deborah's place. Feel free to bring it over on Nov. 18.

Deborah's Place is always grateful to get donations of yarn, crochet
hooks, and knitting needles. They will provide a letter noting the
value of your donation for tax purposes if you like.

KNIT 2 : two workshops in one!

Saturday, December 13, 1:30- 5:00 pm

Just in time for the pre-holiday knitting frenzy, Stellaria offers a
unique project workshop combined with some relief for your overworked
joints...

1)Knitting with Vera Videnovich - Old Shale (the Feather and Fan stitch).
This deeply scalloped old Shetland pattern is deceivingly simple and a
great introduction to eyelet patterns and has many variations. This
class will include custom-dyed, hand-spun wool in colors of the sea as
the pattern is said to resemble waves undulating on shale sands.

2)Yoga for Knitters - Stretch and strengthen those overused hand,
wrist, and shoulder joints. Move those parts you've been sitting on
all day! Crocheters, embroiderers, and other non-knitters are welcome.
Taught by Debbie McDermitt.

Fee: $115 for the combined workshop (all materials included)

Recommended for intermediate knitters.

Contact me at "info at stellarianaturalhealth dot com" if you have any
questions or would like to register. Vera will also be teaching a
Beginner's Knitting course on Wednesday evenings, starting November
19. For info on this and other classes, see our website:
stellarianaturalhealth.com

Thanks!
-Stephanie (still hoping to excavate some time in which to come out
and knit with y'all)

Hello Knitters--

Anyone want to join me for the Empty Bowls event at Lill Street Art Center this
Friday night? There is more information about it in the forwarded message
below. I plan to be there at 6:15 PM.

Some of you may remember third wheel because they played at MoJoe's once while
we were knitting there.

Hello all, let's get together and plan more knitting for the new year. We don't
have pets, so your main allergen here will be dust...and wool.

If whomever has the swift and winder could bring that along, or arrange for me
to get it before then, that would be helpful.

Let me know if you can attend,

Please count me in, but I will not arrive until approximately 12:30 PM.

Is there anything you would like me to bring food or drink wise?

Also, if we want to have a really crazy winding spree, I got a swift and winder
recently that I can bring.  Just let me know if you think there will be crazed
amounts of winding!

How exciting to see so many of us able to plan to knit. There is plenty of room
here--I once had 21 family members over for Christmas dinner--so c'mon by and
bring your friends.

A national "Secretary of the Arts" - Sign the Petition

Quincy Jones has started a petition to ask President-Elect Obama to

appoint a Secretary of the Arts. While many other countries have had

Ministers of Art or Culture for centuries, The United States has never

created such a position. We in the arts need this and the country

needs the arts--now more than ever. Please take a moment to sign this

important petition and then pass it on to your friends and colleagues.

Hi all!
Sorry I haven't been able to swing by any events lately. We've moved up to
Albany Park. I got this email from Sister Arts Studio and thought some might
be interested in helping out.

Donna,When would you need these bears by? Depending on the deadline, I might
be able to do one.
