The Livingston County Genealogical Society (LCGS) is a membership organization, which welcomes persons interested in genealogy, local history, and related topics pertaining to Livingston County, New York.

The Society's holdings are kept in the local history room of the Dansville Library. Our Ancestral File Project has a large collection of ancestor charts and family group sheets from individuals whose ancestors traveled through this area at some point. These have been organized alphabetically and indexed. We invite the public to use this resource and to submit their family group sheets for inclusion in this project. The library is the repository for many other genealogy and local history books as well. The library does not conduct research for individuals but serves as a repository for the Society's collections. Please do not contact them to do research for you.
