Living Green is a community of like-minded folks to explore "living
green". We talk about certain practical green living topics.
If you are interested in joining this on-line discussion group about
lowering our impact on planet earth, please do so.
Possible topics include: Reduce - Less is More; Reuse - What do you do
already?; Think Small, etc. Hopefully you will supply new topics of interest.
At times I feel overwhelmed by our environmental and world problems,
pollution in the air, water and soil, global
warming, inequity of rich-poor nations, Mr. Bush in the White House, and so on. Then I re-read this inspirational quote,
"I am only one; but still I am one. I cannot do
everything, but still I can do something. I will not refuse to do the
something I can do." Helen Keller
And thus taking courage, we begin.
The motto we have heard many times
'Reduce, Reuse, Recycle' seems so
common and banal, but each word is an important
concept that holds an
enormity of thought and action. Let's start
today's discussion with REDUCE.
To me Reduce means to use less of
everything, less gas, less
electricity, less water, less consumption of
products. Okay, but how? For myself,
because I am retired I walk to the drug store,
walk to buy a paper, to the bank,
the post office, the library. I have the time
and these places are near. I
feel good that I can get my exercise and not use
gas or pollute the air. But
I still drive, of course, to church, to the
store, to visit my daughter.
What do you do to Reduce?
Thank you. Talk to you soon.
