Subject: LionWAP upgrades to the new e-Clubhouse
danuitti
Offline Offline
Send Email Send Email

HTML clipboard
Dear Fellow Lions,

Please update your Lions Club website at www.LionWAP.org
with the the Username and Password. The Username IS a part fo your
website. So if your website is www.lionwap.org/WatertownCT
your username is WatertownCT

Be sure to use the "I forgot my Password" tool if you have forgotten
your Password. You must have access to the e-mail address that appears on
the CONTACT US page. see HTML clipboardhttp://www.lionwap.org/epass.html

Please do not use the e-Clubhouse upgrade for pages that are NOT a Lions Club.
Districts, Zones and other projects should not be upgraded as yet. We do
have great plans to help webmasters with these special websites, so don't jump
ahead and miss out on other ideas.

As you may know from recent articles that appeared in the Lion Magazine, we are
offering an Upgrade to your Lions Club webpage at LionWAP.org known as
e-Clubhouse. You are among the first to be invited to Upgrade your
club's website. This is optional, but cannot be reversed without losing
some of your new information.

Take a look at this typical e-Clubhouse page:

St. Johns Lions Club (Indiana) - http://lionwap.org/eclub/sites/stjohn/

When you update your club's website, be sure to make these vital changes to be
eligible for the UPGRADE that gives your club this new appearance.

1. Your club must be named with the form "Watertown Lions Club".
That means, "Lions Club" must be last. Remove
references of your state in the name, since that will appear immediately below
your club name.

2. The Announcements field MUST NOT be blank. In a very
short time, we would like you to make the HOME PAGE exciting.

Once you have updated your LionWAP website and Submitted the change, UPGRADE
your Lions Club page to the new e-Clubhouse style, follow these simple steps:

1. Log into your Lions Club webpage at www.lionwap.org

 (please e-mail
me, if you have forgotten your username or password)

2. Scroll down to field 35 TEMPLATE, and pick e-Clubhouse in
the pull-down list.

3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and re-enter your password

4. Hit the Submit button.

5. Follow the simple instructions to complete the upgrade.

You might want to jot down some notes about the changes that were made by the
Upgrade process. .

Keep in mind that your Lions Club webpage address will still work after the
upgrade. The original page simply forward to the new website, so you
can still use the address: watertownct.lionwap.org

Why upgrade?

We think that you will like the new e-Clubhouse format as a nice professional
appearance. The e-Clubhouse system is well integrated with the
official Lions Clubs International website. LionNet has partnered with Lions
Clubs International to make this available.

By upgrading, you keep the same address. Information that you have
previously entered in the Announcements field will appear at the new HOME page.
Your Activities field will appear on the new Club Projects page.Your
officers will appear at the new Club Officers page. The new Photo upload
feature is easier. The new Calendar feature will show Featured events
right on the HOME page, above the Lions Clubs International News section.

What should you do next?

One of the first things that we would like our new websites to accomplish, is to
add a photo to the HOME page. These must be smaller than 75KB, but I recommend
that you size this shot at smaller than 500 pixels wide. Around 450 would be
good. You can resize this photo after uploading it.

Try populating your calendar with a few club events and/or meetings. Your very
next meeting should be noted as a FEATURED event. Featured events will then
appear on the top of the RIGHT column of your HOME page, ABOVE the Lions Clubs
International News.

Here is the link to our latest HELP file.
lionwap.org/eclub/inc/Lions_e-Clubhouse_User_Guide.pdf
Let me know if you have trouble downloading it.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with questions or even provide ME with
information or photos to add to the website. We want these websites to look
GREAT.

Global Impact Corps: Global Health Volunteer Abroad Opportunities

http://www.uniteforsight.org/volunteer-abroad

Unite For Sight has been featured weekly on CNN International and in The New
York Times

Unite For Sight is the world's leader in socially responsible, effective
volunteering abroad. Unite For Sight's Global Impact Corps is an immersive
global health experience for students and for professionals. All volunteers
participating in Unite For Sight's international programs are Global Impact
Fellows. They participate daily with local ophthalmic nurses, local
optometrists, and local ophthalmologists to support and assist the clinic in
outreach programs that reduce all of the barriers to health care, including
financial, transportation and education barriers.

Through hands-on, structured training, fellows gain a comprehensive
understanding about best practices in volunteerism, global health, and
international development. Global Impact Fellows gain skills and are nurtured
to become new leaders in global health. Additionally, Global Impact Fellows may
participate in the Global Impact Lab, an optional program for fellows interested
in pursuing global health research.

I am a member of the Valhalla Lions Club. I recently set up our webpage

http://valhallalion sny.lionwap. org/

I was looking for a place for our club to share our photos of our various
events.

This might be a great place to create an album for our group. Would that be an
ok idea?

Start a social network at facebook, myspace or other place on-line. WHY? If
you just have a few photos at your website, people just might stumble on them.
If you create a public photo album in your active social network, then more
people will see and learn about Lionism.

You see, there are so many billions of webpages on the internet now; the only
way to compete is to build a social network on-line. It isn't going to happen
with just GOOGLE anymore. Of course, your network should include Lions Club
members; but include other friends, co-workers, church members and relatives.
WHY leave the pictures for just strangers to see? If more Lions worked on their
social networks, then more people in the world will know of Lions. Nobody
should keep it a secret; but it is more important to tell our own friends.

Here are some links to get started.

Why Volunteering??
Volunteering as an individual or group Lion Club activities will undoubtedly be
a life-changing experience. It will allow you to practice your knowledge and
skills along side local Lions, doctors and healthcare professionals while
helping the underprivileged local population.
As a volunteer, you get a completely different experience to that of the average
tourist. Accommodations will be provided on site. This means that you get to
experience life as the locals live it - both an eye opening and an interesting
experience!
Any volunteer interested in joining our healthcare programs is required to
provide certification or proof of enrollment in a healthcare program to ensure
both individual and patient safety. Primarily, volunteers assist local doctors
and medical staff in the treatment of patients; however, volunteers are free to
participate in other programs within the hospital such as record keeping,
sanitation, nutrition, or treatment of minor injuries.
Who can be a Volunteer ??
o Lion members.
o Doctors
o Dentists
o Nurses
o Pharmacists
o Lab technicians
o Pathologists
o Dental Technicians
o Community Health workers
o Health Care/Medical teachers
o Physiotherapists
o Pharmacist , Pharmacologist Potential Areas for Volunteering
o Anamnagar Polyclinic Community Hospital
o Weekend Community Health Camps
o Pharmacy
o Health Post { Out reach Clinic}
o Partnership programs with local hospitals
o Health check-up for schoolchildren
o Health education in schools health programs
o Community healthcare services
o Tuberculosis Education/DOTS clinic
o HIV/AIDS & Sexual transmitted disease
o Pharmaceuticals companies
o Nursing college
Goals of our VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
Lion Club of Kathmandu Amardeep aims to coordinate socio-cultural interactions
between volunteers from all over the world and Nepal by creating opportunities
to exchange their experiences and skills with local healthcare professionals.
Our main goal is to offer volunteer programs for those who are interested in
experiencing a new and unique way of life, while contributing their time and
skills to benefit worthwhile community services throughout Nepal.
Volunteers who work for longer period need to register with the local medical or
nursing council, or other appropriate government authorities.
