Current Homepage Photo is of the Spence Ridge Trail/House Rock bridge. Air lifted in the gorge by helicopter ... it's an amazing and costly addition to the gorge. This is the only man made crossing in the gorge as of this posting.

Linville Gorge is a jungle covered canyon in western NC. This was one of the first areas to be designated as Wilderness. The northern section is a serpentine river which cuts thru ancient rock. The southern section is a 1500ft deep gorge rimmed with high cliffs. This group is for SCRAMBLING a rare hybrid sport for misfits too chicken to climb and too tough to hike. With many miles of cliffs and canyons, Linville Gorge is a scramblers paradise!
