In what must be a record, I just deleted more than a dozen posts to this
lists because they were blatantly top posted and overquoted. All on one
day.

Usually, I always reject such posts, with an explanation, but this was too
much, and I just deleted them.

So I am making a common post here, for all those who have been posting in
the past few days and havent seen their posts show up here:

<admin>

Your post probably got deleted because you either top-posted or overquoted
or had some obnoxious meaningless disclaimer attached.

It also means that you haven't read the list rules, which you can find
here:

http://linux-bangalore.org/discussions/rules.php

You shall do so now, you shall take the trouble to understand them, you
will seek clarification if you need it, and you will only post again to
this list if/when you are able to abide by its rules.

I have made a list of all those who have violated the list rules in the
past few days on this list. If, after this warning post of mine, I see
another post from you violating the rules, I will ban you from the list.

And *please* do not argue with me that top posts, overquoting and silly
disclaimers being allowed on other lists or your organisations. That may
be the case, but it isn't the case here.

Let me also make it clear that my banning legal disclaimers on our lists
has a strong legal foundation:

As the list admin, I have no control over who gets to see your message, or
whom you meant it for. It will certainly be read by people working for the
competition, and will almost certainly cause your organisation financial
ruin if it contains information that allows someone to do so.

I will not take legal responsibility for this, and therefore stop messages
with such disclaimers and warnings and other nonsensical legal mumbo-jumbo
from reaching this mailing list, to avoid me or anyone else violating your
terms and conditions.

Don't argue with me about this - I have asked a lawyer. You, or your
organisation, clearly haven't. At least not in the context of a mailing
list.

If your company's mail server doesn't allow you to disable disclaimers for
mailing lists, please use the services of the many fine web mail services
available out there to post to this list.

And please don't write to me that you are sorry for violating the list
rules. Prove it, by re-posting your message, correctly formatted
according to list rules.

We value your participation on these mailing lists, but *not* if you can't
take a few moments to read the rules, understand them, and trim your posts
and avoid top posts.

Thank you for reading this and understanding. Now click on this link:

and learn how to be a responsible member of these mailing lists.
