Hello everyone!!!!

The t-shirts will be here Tuesday March 2.  The cost of the shirts will be
$15.00.  The t-shirts are the same design that Peter put together.  The
sizes that I ordered are as follows:  M,L, and XL.  The t-shirts are white
with black ringers.  I will try to go out To Swingers a couple of times
next week to pass out the shirts.

I plan to have our next meeting March 13, 1999.  We will meet at a
restaurant again.  I will let everyone know where once it gets closer.  The
meeting will be brief so everyone can eat or leave to go lindy somewhere.
If anyone has any ideas that they would like me to discuss at the meeting,
please e-mail me before the meeting so I can prepare anything necessary.
Lastly,  I will also bring the T-shirts to the meeting for anyone that does
not see me before then.

        I just wanted to let everyone know about some new shirts that are
      available! Hep Wear (by Angie) has made some really really cool
      shirts! They have an emboidered aplicay silhoette of Leon & Willa Mae
      on them. They are doing a swing out and Leon is doing a little split.
      You can choose either black or red design. The shirts come in short
      capped sleeve (girls) or regular short sleeve t-shirt (both in black
      or white) for $20, Long sleeve girls t-shirt (black or white, I have
      the black w/red design it's AWESOME!), the pullover hooded

Hello fellow lindy hoppers-

After a long discussion and consideration yesterday, Jim and I have
decided to cancel the lindy hop "club".  Due to our hectic schedules
(and yours), we are unable to organize a formal club.

However, I don't feel this decision will change our regularly scheduled
events, nor the camaraderie that has been developed between lindy
hoppers.

We still enjoy getting together with you all socially and hope to
continue to do so on a much more casual basis.

We appreciate all those who submitted t-shirt designs, they were
terrific, unfortunately we will have to return them to their respective
owners.

I'm sorry for the confusion and inconvenience we may have caused anyone.

I encourage all of you to join us to see Frankie in Detroit, and to join
us at Swingers on Saturdays around 8:30-9 pm.

After I dried my tears, I burst out into laughter when I realized how
"ryan" that was.  He is in two videos saying to the left when he means
right, says suzy q when he really means shorty george, and
now...Atlanta, when he really meant Houston.  Oh well, our loss.
Hopefully, he will be coming here for the Grand Nationals Swing Dance
Competition.  Jackie McGee and Charlie Womble (national shag champions
who live here in Atlanta) are putting on the event during Memorial Day
Weekend. I spoke with Jackie today and she said it is still tentative
whether he will be able to come or not. Everyone keep their fingers
crossed.

Hi lindy friends-  a couple of things...

Instead of meeting at La Madeleine, we are going to meet at "The Sushi
Rock Cafe" right next to the Roxy.  Same time at 7:45.  Reasons are:
Change of Scenery, Light meal, Jim was in there this week - met owners
and they are real nice, plenty of room, and still close to Swingers.  If
you know someone that is planning on coming to the meeting and is not on
the email list will you please contact them and let them know.  Thanks.

Our plans for this Friday is to go to Club Anytime (we will probably be
there around 10:00-10:30).  Hope to see you there.
Saturdays plan is to teach at ADW of course, then have our meeting at
Sushi Rock Cafe 7:45, Swingers from 9:00-11:00, then to Sage's going
away party at her house EVERYONE is invited. (she would like it very
much if we all could dance there too).  That's the plan Stan!

Sage is planning on leaving the following day (or Mon).  I will pick up
a card on my lunch break and bring to class so everyone can sign it.  I
will also get a money holder to take up a money collection for her going
away gift. She will need it for her long drive back to L.A. by herself.

I don't know if this is possible b/c I don't know much about printing
(although I work in a graphic design firm), but was wondering if you
could bring your t-shirt designs "ready for print" in case yours is
chosen I can go straight to the printers.

Hi Marcy -
Thank you for that little speech - I can't tell you how many times I've
been kicked by Lindy-Hoppers.  I know we all do our fair share of kicking,
but somehow, whenever the Lindy to Swinger ratio is high, I always wind up
with more bumps and bruises when I leave.  It's probably just the nature of
the dance, but if we're all more careful, swing and lindy both will be less
of a contact sport and more of a dance.  Hope I didn't step on any toes by
saying this- hehehe!!!!

Hi Everyone-

Some of of this does not pertain to everyone.

We were at Swingers last night and the Manager approached us with a
situation.
He said that he is doing us a favor by letting us in for free on
Saturdays for our lindy hop party and that we need to be there earlier
(not five minutes to ten) if we want to keep our privileges.  I would
suggest our meeting for the t-shirt designs not go longer than 8:45 so
we can be there by 9:00.  He said he is definitely pulling the list at
10:00.  But our thinking is this is our dancing time and we should be in
there earlier having fun with more floor space anyway.

Second, he said it was brought to his attention that some people were
bringing water bottles in their bags.  I heard someone say they did this
last week, but can't remember who it was.  Whatever the reasons they
have for us not bringing water in I don't know, but they don't and in
order not to cause any problems and keep peace I would ask that you get
water from the bar.  Again, we may lose our privileges and I know we
don't want that to happen.

And third, since I'm on a preaching-mom role, in social situations I
would recommend that we try to dance smaller.  Etiquette isn't really
something I thought I would have to teach, but we do a larger dance and
in order not to hit or kick people we need to try to keep our movements
tighter in social settings.  I understand that accidents happen,
especially with lindy, but let's try to make a conserted effort.  I've
already heard that we are developing a bad rep.  We aren't at a place
where we can have our own lindy hop bar, so until then, we need to not
alienate other swing people, keep peace and be polite on the dance
floor.

Last Friday I found a really good deal on shoes. There's a Shoe
Warehouse store (Wyngates, I think) at Venture Mall, across Pleasant
Hill from Gwinnette Place Mall, that has two-tone Stacy Adams for $25.

If anyone is interested, from Atlanta take I-85 north to Pleasnt Hill
and take a left (west). The first traffic light would return you to 85
southbound. The second traffic light is Venture Blvd. Turn left onto
Venture Blvd. Two blocks down on the left is Venture Mall and the Shoe
store opens to the outside.

In addition to that store, the store next door to it, K & G Men's Wear
has a wider selection of Stacy Adam's for about $40.

Unfortunately for me, the smallest size either store has is a men's 8,
which is much too large for me. But in case anyone else is looking, at
$40 Stacy Adams are a good deal, and $25 they're a steal.

Just wanted to let everyone know that Jimmy and I are "FUR SURE" going
to Detroit.  I just booked our flight and registered for all the
workshops and dinner/dance party.

Hi,

Two things.

One, do we have a website yet. If I remember correctly, Sarah (B?) was
going to be making one for us. If it's up, could someone let me know
the address?

And two. I'm looking for a cool quote for the list's signature line.
Swingtown uses, "When you hit the dance floor you gotta be jumpin',
Jack." A quote specific to Lindy would be really good, but if not
that, maybe a reference to dancing in general. Any suggestions would
be helpful.
