June's Guild meeting will not be at the Library this month.

We will meet at Trinity Baptist Church from 1-4 p.m. Saturday June 19, 2010.

Trinity Baptist Church is just north of 40th and Highway 2 on LaSalle Street.
Turn west onto La Salle and it's about 5 houses in.

We will be having a hands-on yarn dyeing lab.

What to bring:
yarn to dye (wool, white, off white works best)
Kool-aid or Easter egg dye in colors you might like to try
a microwave safe dish
scrap yarn to tie up skeins with
old towel(s) that might get stained

Wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty/stained. (Just in case)

We will have a swift or two to assist in winding hanks for dyeing, a ball winder
to wind finished yarns (if they dry fast enough), vinegar for setting the dye,
some dyes and other supplies.

I have a couple of extra sock blanks from Knit Picks that can be purchased for
$12.50 each. They are $11.99 at Knit Picks, and I added a bit for taxes/shipping
costs.

Let me know if I forgot anything.

I hope to see you there!
Shawn

I'm sorry for this odd request because it might get to you too urgent but it's just the situation of things right now, we are presently stuck in Scotland, we came down here on vacation. we were robbed, worse of it is that bags, cash and credit cards was stolen at GUN POINT, it's such a crazy experience for me and i need help with flying back home, the authorities are not being 100% supportive but the good thing is i  still have my passports but don't have enough money to get on a plane back home, please i need you to loan me  some money till we are back home to refund it back.
Thanks,

Just wanted to remind everyone that we are meeting at Trinity Baptist church
tomorrow for some hands-on dyeing of yarn.

Bring some kool-aid (about 1 pkg./ ounce of yarn), some wool yarn in white or
natural color, and a microwave-safe container.

- hope to see you there.

July we will be back at Walt library for our meeting.

Our topic will be Mobius Knitting. I posted a copy of a free pattern, or you can
hunt it down on Ravelry too.

I will get a supply list ready soon.

For those of you who missed the Dyeing Lab last week, there has been several
requests to do it again (really soon, too). If you are interested, let me know,
and we will look into setting it up.

Have a great day!

To: Ruth Heer <ruthmheer@...>

Hi

Stitchlinks and Cardiff University have launched an online survey which looks at the impact of knitting
on physical, mental and social wellbeing. The results will form part of a series of formal studies into
the therapeutic benefits of knitting and will be published.

Please click on the following link to access the survey https://www.surveys.cardiff.ac.uk/knitting2/

A participant information sheet which explains what the survey is all about is also attached.

We need 1,000 knitters to fill this survey out so please pass the link around your knitting friends, forums, groups and Ravelry.

Thank you for helping us with this work.

Best wishes

Betsan

PS If you filled out this questionnaire as part of the knitting and memory study, it's OK to fill it out again as we've changed some of the questions in response to your feeback.

Cathy was trying to find a sock needle holder - one of those wooden tubes (not cardboard) that you use to hold your socks in progress. I saw an ad on Ravelry, and I'm pretty sure, Cathy, that this is where I got mine.

OK, so I have totally lost track of time.

Supplies needed:

yarn -- I recommend some left over sock yarn/fingering wt.
US 2 or 3 needle -- **at least** 32 inches long -- for this, longer is better
a stitch marker

This set of supplies is just to learn how to do the moebius cast-on.

If you wish to knit the Cowl, you will need a US 10 needle that is 40 or 47
inches long and about 200 yds of DK wt yarn.

Once you learn the cast-on, the rest is normal knitting.

I am de-stashing some of my sweaters that no longer fit. I am offering them first to my knitting friends.

No strings attached - you can wear them or frog them and use the yarn for something else or felt them and make something with them.

I measured them and the chest measurements are 40" on the pullovers and a little more (up to 44") on the cardigans.
