This is what we have printed into the front cover of our Hitchhiker logbooks:
"You have found a hitchhiker (HH)!
Treat it like another letterbox,
in that you stamp into this logbook
and stamp the HH stamp into your
logbook as a 'find'.
Then pack it up and take the HH
with you to the next letterbox (big
enough to hold it) that you find.
Stamp the HH into the letterbox's
logbook and stamp the letterbox's
stamp in to this HH's logbook.
Then leave the HH in that letterbox
for the next person to find. Let us
know about this HH's travels at :
PS - The logbook isn't big, so
PLEASE DON'T BRING IT TO A
GATHERING!"
We worded it this way because we know from experience that newer letterboxers don't know what to do with an 'extra' baggie with stamp and logbook.
Our very first Letterbox contained a HH and we had no clue what to do.
It wasn't until we went to our first Gathering and met other LB'S that we learned the ins and outs of our new hobby!
We also request that our HH's don't go to Gatherings because the logbook can fill up too quickly.
We keep our stamps and logbooks small so that they will fit in more letterboxes.
This seems to work for us and you are free to use or notuse as you see fit.
We have heard back from finders - not just through the LBNA or AQ sites.
Not everyone uses the sites to log their finds and some don't bother with these chat lists - Go figure! :)

Subject: [letterbox_travellers] HH Logbook Text
What suggestions can you give me to what I should write in the logbook when creating a hitch hiker?
I want to put that it isn't a geocache prize, to contact me if problems, etc.
But can some of you give me an idea what you put in your logs?
Thanks!!
