The purpose of this group is to bring together people who are seriously interested in creating energy descent initiatives in Llanelli and/or in establishing a Llanelli Transition Town initiative and/or in setting up a community LETS scheme.

What is a Transition Town (or village / city / forest / island)?

A Transition Initiative is a community working together to look Peak Oil and Climate Change squarely in the eye and address this BIG question:

"for all those aspects of life that this community needs in order to sustain itself and thrive, how do we significantly increase resilience (to mitigate the effects of Peak Oil) and drastically reduce carbon emissions (to mitigate the effects of Climate Change)?"

The resulting coordinated range of projects across all these areas of life leads to a collectively designed energy descent pathway.

So, what are LETS?

LETS - Local Exchange Trading Systems or Schemes - are local community-based mutual aid networks in which people exchange all kinds of goods and services with one another, without the need for money.

The purpose of this group is to enable people to make the local contacts they need to go out and set up core groups to actually begin to undertake the work. It's assumed that you are already committed to energy descent if you join this group. It's not a place to debate the merit of these ideas and it's not intended to be a talking shop indefinitely. It's a place, after gathering training, information, ideas and friends, to begin from.
