This is the learnjapanese2 group, here to help people who wish to learn Japanese, and Japanese people who wish to learn English, in a relaxed and friendly community. New members are welcome from all over the world.

One of the problems with the current web interface offered by Yahoo! is that it doesn't support Japanese encoding. Messages containing Japanese text, sent using the web interface, are re-encoded into ISO-8859-1, which almost always results in gibberish. We strongly recommend using mail (not Yahoo! The "Learn Japanese" Yahoo! group was started by the user "gaspode38" on November 25, 1998. The original group has been abandoned due to spam, and this group was born instead. This group is now moderated. Most old members followed, making the new group a warm community. No one knows the fate of gaspode38, but here is the welcome message from the original group:
