The purpose of this forum is to provide ideas and inspiration to continue on the good practices of AVT (auditory verbal therapy) and listening in general, early or even later in a child's life, who may be deaf or hard of hearing, autistic, ADHD or just needs more listening experience. Often times a child with hearing loss is doing so great with speech alone that the therapy is dropped, but this doesn't mean the continued care of at home "therapy" should be dropped. Parents, grandparents, teachers, therapists, even kids are welcome here. Also if you are not doing AVT specifically for hearing impaired children, but taking a more oral approach please feel free to join. Here you will find lots of language building tools such as games, books, vocabulary words, and lots more. Parents of "seasoned listeners" will pass down ideas that have worked for them to the parents of new listeners. Our goal is to promote good listening skills in our hearing impaired children so they can build and advance in their education.
