Welcome to the LDS Attachment Parenting List
This is a list focusing on Attachment Parenting, but is viewed in a perspective consistent with the teachings and traditions of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Although, it is in an LDS perspective, anyone is free to join and contribute.
Attachment parenting focuses on the loving and nurturing of a child through frequent physical & emotional contact of the child from the parents. The theory of attachment parenting is that children learn and thrive best when they are treated with love, respect and kindness. Attachment parenting usually includes, but is not limited to the following:
* natural childbirth
* extended breastfeeding
* family bed
* non-spanking
* gentleness
* baby-wearing
* spending quality time with the child as much as possible
Some variations of attachment parenting occur from family to family, and there are no hard and set rules for it, as long as the parent realises that gentleness and love is the key, rather than yelling or belittling.
The LDS attachment parenter realises that children are very precious in the sight of the Lord and that teaching children the Gospel of Jesus Christ on a consistent basis, is vital to the spiritual and intellectual well-being of the child.
Our goal is to be like Jesus Christ, and to follow His example. His contact with children was always loving , gentle. He took extra time to be with them, to teach them, to hold them, to let them know how important and special they are. As attachment parenters, He can be our greatest example of how to be the very best parents we can be for our children.
CHARTER
