Description

This is the original LBC group founded in March 1999.   Beware of imitations!

LBC was Britain's first independent radio station, and has been broadcasting a mix of news and talk to London since 1973 under various owners and identities.

A new era for LBC began in 2003. LBC now has two services: LBC 97.3 (news and talk) on FM and LBC News 1152 (rolling news) on AM. Both stations are available online and on DAB Digital Radio. LBC 97.3 is also on Sky Digital 0177.

The aim of this group is to discuss LBC and anything relating to LBC: presenters and programmes present, past and future! We welcome information about when they appear on other radio stations or television.

A few simple rules which should keep us a happy community!

  • Please try to keep the discussion to matters relating to LBC rather than subjects under discussion in LBC's programmes. Debate about how LBC has covered a particular story or issue is welcome.
  • Keep the discussion friendly, which means no swearing and no sniping at (flaming) other members of the group.
  • Off topics are allowed but please try and mark them off topic in case some do not wish to read them. If the off topic subject continues to lengthy correspondence, please take it off list
  • If you are quoting from a previous message, please snip your reply so that it only includes the relevant part of the previous message. Please leave a gap between the original message and your reply.
  • Advertising of non LBC-related products or services is not allowed.

Really good in his new slot. Far superior to the too camp for words Bill Buckley. [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Re: Departed presenters
Who said anything about promoting their next move? All I am saying is, when a presenter leaves (jumps or is pushed) it's as if he never existed; there is

... Suggesting he had died would perhaps be a little extreme!

Re: Departed presenters
Where I would agree with most of that, a professional broadcaster would not say "see you on Capital". Although I recall the late Roger Scott on Capital saying

Departed presenters
Radio 1 would not allow their departing DJs to plug a career move to a rival broadcaster. The BBC only indulge their presenters if they are going on maternity
