We have formed a support group in Central Illinois whose purpose is to afford our children an opportunity to develop a sense of ethnicity for their Latin American heritage. Members of our group have or are in the process of creating a family through adoption. Although few of us would have envisioned creating a family by these methods, we recognize that the adoption journey has drastically altered our lives as well as our children’s. No groups exist in central Illinois that offer support to those who have either adopted or are in the process of adopting from Latin America. Therefore, we have formed a group to meet those needs.
