Description

This group exists to serve those interested in the scholarly study and discussion of the invented languages of J.R.R. Tolkien.

This list is strictly moderated. All posts must be concerned with Tolkien's invented languages, and must provide evidence and publication citations for all assertions. The moderators reserve the right to edit any posts for length, clarity, and relevance to the list's purpose.

It is not the purpose of this list to help anyone "learn Elvish", only to study and discuss Tolkien's languages in a scholarly manner. General requests for information will be rejected; for such, see the Resources page. No personal or otherwise off-topic posts will be permitted.

For a full statement of list principles and guidelines, see http://www.elvish.org/LambengolmorList/. The bibliographical and linguistic abbreviations used in posts are specified at http://www.elvish.org/Tengwestie/conventions.phtml
