Lambda DanceSport DC is an organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered (LGBT) dancers in the Baltimore/Washington DC Metropolitan area who wish to train in and dance any of the different couples' social or competitive DanceSport styles of International Ballroom and Latin, American style Rhythm and Smoothe, Country/Western, Salsa & Rueda, Disco/Hustle, Flamenco, Swing, Argentine Tango, Hip Hop and more as same-gender couples.
Organized competitions in America could include the annual March "Philadelphia Liberty Dance Challenge" or New York City's annual MAY "5-Boro Dance Challenge" in Manhattan as well as annual and semi-annual IAGLCWDC country/Western dance events and numerous smaller local events, including the "Out on The Dance Floor Charity Ball" in DC and possible "Dancing with the DC Stars" Out on The Dance Floor at Freedom Plaza (information for both may be found at www.OUTonTheDanceFloor.net).
Also included for consideration on a worldwide level are the "Gay Games®" DanceSport competitions (Gay Games® Cologne, 2010) and the "World OutGames®" DanceSport events (World Outgames® Copenhagen, 2009) either as competitors or as spectators.
Both LGBT dancers and gay-friendly non-LGBT dancers and friends are welcome and encouraged in "ALL" social events promoted by Lambda DanceSport DC. This is completely a non-discriminatory association and not exclusively LGBT-only, though competing as male couples or female couples, regardless of the orientation of affection for each competitor is encouraged to distinguish from mainstream contests of only mixed-gender couples.
Lambda DanceSport DC does not promote discriminatation within it's own ranks by discouraging specific LGBT lifestyles, races or genders, etc (such as leather or Latin-only, Black or white-only, drag queen or non-drag queen-only, Ballroom & Swing or C/W-only, men or women-only).
