We are final for May 15 weekend. We want to make this a memorable camping for everyone.
Here is the document I am preparing. This is just a first cut to get the ball rolling. Please share your ideas and suggestions.
If you have not yet RSVPed, please do so. If you have a friend/family who is interested and you think would be a great addition to our camping group, please invite them before we have 10 families. We would love an opporunity to get to know new faces. The deadline for LAHiker members is over so now it is first come first served for the friends of LAHikers.

* If not yet, please provide a $70 check to Manu. This amount is a deposit and we will
refund if we have surplus or will ask for more if needed. Note: Every penny will be accounted and all accounting will be shared with the group. Thanks Manu for volunteering for this. Above link has a tab where we will track all expenses.
* If you have parents with you, please bring them along.
* We are all hosts and no guests- we will work together and strive to make this a fun experience. I bet you it will be fun and you would not want to leave the campgrounds on Sunday.

Besides group camping site, there seems to some sites available for regular also which can save us money (usually group sites are cheaper but not in the case of McGrath). If we book 4 sites, we can have utpo 8 families and that will cost us $200 instead of $350 for group campsite. Also we have more opportunities too- May 29-31, June 5-7, June 12-13.
Let us go for May 29-31- immediately after Memorial Day (the official start of the Camping season in the USA). How will this work with all? Please reply asap as Manu and I intend to reserve within next half hour.

Campers,
Here is the plan:
* Please make a payment of $70 per family to Manu as soon as possible. If you need mailing address, please reply back asap. If you are paying with ****Bank Account funds**** in Paypal, you can send money to pateljr@hotmail. com. Please take this as urgent. Manu has volunteered to be treasurer for the camping. LAHikers have preference in getting in but then we might fill open spaces with friends.
* Based on today's heat, looks like the camping after two weeks- May may be better than doing in June. Let us know your preferences.
* I am going to make a detailed list of things we need for camping. Some of the things we will buy in common account and some we may ask members to volunteer. I am going to create, maintain and share this master list.
* We need some volunteers for doing these purchases- like rice,
spoons, forks, paper cups, water containers, vegetables, etc.
* Any ideas for food? One evening we will have Pizza. For morning and afternoon, we will buy Indian snacks so other times,... throw in your ideas.
* For fun, we can play Volleyball, fly kites, do bugiboarding, go on hikes, get in water etc.

Sorry for not replying to this early. It is very difficult to get a group camping site for the premium beach sites you mentioned for this summer from Reserve America.
Your best option is to get McGrath beach (group camping at McGrath is handled offline by a lady, Alexis -- not thru Reserve America). You would need to pay for a minimum of 5 sites (10 vehicles) ... at 35 per night per site... so TWO day total would be 35 * 2 * 5 => $350. I guess single day reservations are also allowed.. but not sure.
I'm pretty sure some of the summer weekends are still open with her at McGrath (u cannot get this thru ReserveAmerica) .
