I plan to join the Christmas paddle.  is there anyone I can team up with to get
from River Ranch to Beaver Park?

I have a new friend that has a rowing shell for sale.

It is a Alden Star 16ft model CCC.
With a Oarmaster II drop in sliding seat.
Also included is a set of Graphite oars.

The boat is located in Patterson.

This boat has been in the water 3 times for more information contact

Guide: John & Becky Williams About Your Guide: Required Items: You'll need your own kayak or canoe. We have a very limited number of canoes that we can rent for $30 per canoe (make a reservation in advance), headlamp or other light source on your kayak or canoe, bring something for the potluck! Optional Items: Grab your kayak or canoe and come out to paddle at Lake Martin as well as meet other outdoorsy folks from the Acadiana area. Everyone's invited to this free Full Moon Paddle trip. We'll meet at Lake Martin at 5:30pm and paddle through the trees as the moon rises. As the night creatures come out, we'll glide through the black waters of Lake Martin. When we reach shore at the end of the paddle tour, we'll all enjoy Becky's chicken and sausage gumbo. There's no charge for this event, but we ask that each person (or couple) bring either a salad or dessert item for the potluck. We will have a limited number of canoes available for $30 per boat. While the trip is free, if you are coming, we need you to call and put your name on the list so we know how much Gumbo to cook. We are looking forward to seeing everyone out on the lake for this event!

Highland Waters was a roaring success this year!  We had a record turnout of 15 overnight campers!  Even CaCa Sonnier made an appearance before the trip was over.  There was a warm fire for our entire stay thanks to Mike's firewood donation and Carl's skill with the flame.  We ate way too much with the bountiful cornucopia of eats that everyone brought including two types of chili, crab/crawfish bisque, homegrown salad greens, potato and chicken soup; just to name a few.  There were some paddling excursions to sandy cove and a night paddle into Lake Fausse Pointe.  The rest of the story will remain in the mind of a passing gator or a spying screech owl, as you know "What happens at Highland Waters, stays at Highland Waters".  I hope we can have an even larger turn out next year!

Don't forget the Christmas paddle on Saturday!

I have to cancel for the weekend which is a drag but will participate in next
weekend's events.  I have a friend who got "re-flu" and am going to stay with
her this weekend.  I didn't know the flu could resurface but it came back with a
vengeance.  Now I'm all germy!

We'll need all the dry firewood we can get so everyone bring what they
can. We are probably going to have a fire day and night with these
temps.
