Hello! Welcome to The Lacey Shawl, a knitting home for all those enthralled with the most aggravating, frustrating, infuriating, exasperating, and thoroughly delightful art of knitting lace shawls!
This group was originally formed to find out who designed the shawl pictured on this page, contact that designer, and obtain information on how to acquire the pattern for ourselves to knit. That objective has been attained, and the information is in our Files section, in a file called “How to Order Triinu’s Shawl Pattern”. We are in the process of organizing a Knit-A-Long (KAL) for this shawl now.
While we were anxiously awaiting news regarding Triinu Andreassen’s marvelous design, members suggested finding other shawls we might be interested in knitting, and unearthed a beauty called The Icelandic Shawl when it was published by Interweave Press in InterKnit magazine. It was originally published in a book called “Three Cornered Shawls”, both sources being long out of print. Interweave, after being inundated with requests for back issues of the magazine, the supply of which quickly became exhausted, decided to re-publish the pattern in their new e-newsletter, Knitting Daily, and there’s a link to that design as well in our files, in the document named “Where to Find:”
Other designs have been found, as well, and KALs are being organized! You’re sure to find something you’ll love here, and there’s plenty of good company and excellent advice and support to be had from our members.
We’ll be very pleased to have you join us!
