Folks,

Here are the names and calls of volunteer so far. There is still time to
sig up (in fact, you can show up on Saturday but you need to check at HQ.

Dave, K4ARP
Pam, N4OPN
Jacob, KF4VLQ
Nancy, KE4RTP
Paul, N4PD
Tom, NA4MA
(Tom, Let me know if Angi is participating)
Norm, AI2C
Kurt KI4FWB
Bill, WF1L

There is room for more.

You do not have to be there all night, but last year it got pretty thin
towars the end so it would be good for some folks to try to be there at the
end.

Net Control and volunteer headquarters will be on the third foor of 15 N.
King St. This is also where the food will be. I will find out on Thursday
night if we can gain access to the roof of 15 N. King St for the NCS
antenna. The repeater will be deployed on the top level of the Town garage.
If you want to help set that up, be there at 1630.

Venues will be clustered at the County government center, The schoolboard
annex, St James Episopal Church and downtown Leesburg inluding the Tally Ho
Theater, Leesburg UMC, Town Hall and EV White building and the old
courthouse.

Some previous venues including the Leesburg fire hall, and the Birkby house
will not be used this year.

The school board annex will house the extremely popular animal shows so
we'll need at least two folks there most of the night beginning at 1800.
Previousl years had folks drifting around between St. James and the School
board annex, but this year we'll need to staff the annex a bit more
thoroughly due to the additinal performances there.

When you arrive at your station, please make yourself know to the volunteers
there at the door. They will often need more buttons or change or something
else and you should relay that back to net control. About 15 minutes into a
performance please do a rough headcount and relay that back to Net control.
This information is used to evaluate whether to move a particular act to a
bigger or smaller venue in future years. We usually do not handle buttons
or money (except when the organizers are desparate), although we often
schlep programs around between thems that have and thems that do not. At
the end, we usually grab the Event Signs from the front of the venues and
take them back to HQ. This is a bit more important this year, especially in
the Churches, as they will have services in the morning so help out with
cllecting the signs, if you can. Other than that, watch the acts and enjoy
yourself. This event is unique in that it it a lot of fun by itslef and we
also get the opportunity to hone our Emergency communications skills.

Operatons will be conducted on 443.225 ARES portable repeater frequency (+
offset and 103.5 Hz PL). A limited number of loaners with speaker mic's
will be available (one is already spoken for). Please program your radios
for 443.225 simplex on the channel right next to the repeater as that will
be the "talk around" frequency if the repater goes down. Just for
information, UHF repater operation is preferred in the Town of Leesburg in
order to avoid interference from the high-power pager transmitters which
overload handhelds and generate intermod products in the 2 meter band.
