Hello,
We are pleased to announce that we are having another one of our house
concerts. Our house is in Tamana, about 10 minute walk from the station. We
also have a parking space near the venue. I can send a map by fax or email
giving the precise location.
This time it is a piano and saxophone duo concert. The musicians are from
Austria. The pianist is Yuka Gulda, and the saxophonist is Nicolas Simion.
Yuko is perhaps best known as the wife of Friedrich Gulda, one of the
greatest pianists in the 20th century who needs no explanation for classical
music fans, but Yuko herself is a beautiful pianist with sensitive lyricism.
In Europe, Nicolas is the saxophonist of the choice of Mal Waldron, a jazz
giant pianist who also needs no explanation for jazz fans, and they toured
and recorded together in duo and quartet settings.
The music is a blend of classical and jazz, from two very skilled,
imaginative and thoroughly praised musicians. It is perhaps more classically
oriented than any of our previous concerts. Nevertheless, we expect it to be
stimulating and enjoyable. The musicians are playing in the Martha Argerich
Music festival in Beppu before coming to Tamana.
The concert will take place on Saturday, 21st April 2001. There will be two
sets of performance:
Doors open Music begins
6:00pm 6:45pm
8:15pm 8:45pm
The tickets are cheap for this quality of music and in such an informal
setting. They are 2,500 yen for the full price, and 1,500 yen for students,
if bought or reserved in advance. If bought on the night, there is a 250yen
extra charge.
People who come to the first set are usually able to stay over for the
second set, without any additional music charge, usually we ask that you buy
a 500yen minimum drinks charge for this.
Tickets can be reserved by either emailing to:
