Description

This is a place for those who just want to knit and talk with knitters (and knitters who crochet, and crocheters who knit!) from all over the world. We keep both side chatter and moderation to a minimum. We have only six rules:

1) Knitting MUST be a major part of your message.
2) Advertising is NOT knitting content! So no saying "you can get this yarn from me" or "join my pattern club." If someone asks about it, send the information to them PRIVATELY. You may include a link in your .sig file, but no pointing to it. It is OK to talk about working at a LYS, or shopping at a LYS, but you may not advertise a sale.
3) Talking about sports is OK. Talking about knitting at sports events is OK. Going "neener, neener, your team stinks!" is NOT OK.
4) Religion - NO PROSELYTIZING. NO PRAYING. NO BIBLICAL REFERENCES IN .sig FILES. If you are talking about knitting Chanukah or Christmas gifts, beginning a prayer shawl group during Ramadan, presenting a gift to the Dalai Lama, asking for help in finding a kippah pattern or with a religiously-oriented pattern, or asking for prayers for someone in need, that's OK.
5) We allow posting of discussions about knitting for victims of major disasters IF AND ONLY IF there is an organized program involved. No messages about "oh, poor people (or penguins), let's knit sweaters for them!" We have a file in the LINKS section offering information about many charity groups that collect items. If you decide to participate in a project, PLEASE follow their rules. Don't send scarves if they say "NO SCARVES."
6) No, we don't want to hear the scarf-pullover joke either.

In sum: behave yourselves, stick to your knitting, and respect the other members. We like to think the members of our list are nice adults (no matter what your age, nine or ninety) and don't need us reading all the messages to determine whether you're playing nicely together. Like a teacher at recess, we will intervene if there is trouble, but you know the rules.
