Here is a HAIKU from one of my online students, Julianna Kádár a
native of Hungary:

falling leaves sound
invite to meditation
old ladies' summer

hulló falevelek hangja
meditálásra késztet
vénasszonyok nyara

In Hungarian, the equivalent to the USA "Indian Summer" is the idiom
translated "old ladies' summer", vénasszonyok nyara. In Julianna's
poem it is the last line in the English version and the Hungarian
version.

Gabi san, I noticed that this could start a regional kigo about
Hungary. Seems, our Indian Summer is a well understood seasonal
occurrance worldwide!

This brings up a situation when a similar seasonal situation exists
in regions of the world but have different idiomatic phrase, in the
case above, "Indian Summer" is "old ladies's summer". It is
interesting to explore the foundations of such translations. I can
certainly relate more to the phrase "old ladies' summer" a little bit
more intuitive than "Indian Summer", eh?

Yours in HAIKU.
