Description

The Guild of St. Michael sponsors a childrens re-enactment sub-group which trains boys and girls, from about 7 years to 14 years of age, in military drill.

Safety and discipline are the primary focus and only wooden replica weapons are used. We have pole arms (short pikes), swords and even wooden guns.

Children (and a few adults) teach other children who attend faires, festivals and other events in marching, weapons handling and presentation. In a 30-minute class, the Kids Militia can usually produce a fine demonstration for family and friends and any visiting nobility who may be present.

Students receive an award, certificate of training, and a basic education on how to handle toy weapons safely both at home and in public places.
