Description

August 2010

Our "progressive" Supervisors sold us out....
---

January 2010 Update: Although fee proposals for the Arboretum were dropped last year, Rec and Park is again planning to charge entrance fees to the Arboretum! This is completely outrageous!

Call the Mayor's office and your supervisor.

Please join this group and fight against this!

Last Summer's Introduction to this group:

Park and Rec is now planning to charge only those without a valid SF ID.

It is important to oppose this because:

Our friends, relatives, and romantic partners may not be SF residents.

Charging fees for outsiders reflects badly on San Francisco.

The gates to the rear of the Hall of Flowers, as well as the entrance to the Arboretum to the right of the gift shop, are likely to be fenced off.

With reduced revenues, it makes even less sense to charge a fee.

This economic collapse is just beginning. It will be with us for years, if not decades. You can bet that everybody will be charged within a couple of years.

This is a group opposed to fencing off the Arboretum from the general public and reserving it for those who can and will pay a fee. We are concerned about the gradual privatization of public park space.

We will use this group to plan strategies and actions.

Actions you can still take:
Call Supervisor Avalos's Office (554-6975), Mayor Gavin Newsom, and your Supervisor.

Send comment (which will be sent on to the Commissioners) at:

recpark.commission@sfgov.org
fax 415-221-8034
