It's for anybody - new paddlers or experienced racers. There will be USCA racing for the hard-core racers, and there will be recreational racing for anyone and everyone else. Here's the link:
I will be racing USCA K-1 Open Kayak with my WSBS Thunderbolt, a friend's son will be using my Epic 18 Endurance to race in USCA K-1 Sea Kayak (he raced in the June race in Recreational Sea Kayak and wants to see how he compares with the more experienced racers), and his brother and my wife will be racing our Hobie Oasis tandem pedal kayak in Recreational Peddle Boat ("anything goes") class. If you don't see a class shown on the flyer for your boat, bring it anyway. New classes are easy to create. :-) The recreational classes are fun racing, with divisions for pretty much any boat you want to bring.
One of the neat things about coming to a race like this is the opportunity to learn from the pros. The experienced racers are nice, easy-going people who will gladly help you if you want to learn how to improved your paddle stroke, move upstream more easily, read the river, etc. A lot of folks will let you try boats as well if you want to see what a higher performance boat feels like.
Hope to see you there!
Steve

Ahoy...Any info on this race for next Saturday(7/18/ 09)? Any members here planning on participating? Is it for hardcore racers or can newbies get out and paddle around and get in peoples way too? I'm mulling it over myself.
