Hi Mary Ellen, what a lovely and generous gesture of you to want to help Kathie! I cannot imagine her courage in facing death in the manner she is. She has done so much to bring awareness to the dangers to health care workers and is a true hero in my eyes. Please feel free to contact me privately at sanditcb@comcast. net Thank you so much for your loving heart
This is the address to use instead of the one previously posted that said "A recovering soldier Walter Reed Hosp". This address below came from an Army major and it went through last year. Hope it helps.

Hi Sandi! This is Mary Ellen McCann. I just read about your friend Kathie. We are planning an Elvis Tribute concert in Feb...Andy Ray Perry will be singing. We have no problem giving in the proceeds for Kathie. The theater holds 840 seats..hoping for a sell out @ $20.00 per seat. We just have to cover our expenses and the rest could be hers. You are welcome to call or email me to discuss further. God Bless --- On Tue, 12/1/09, Sandi <sanditcb@...> wrote:
From: Sandi <sanditcb@...> Subject: [kathyandelvis] KATHIE BRYSON BENEFIT INFORMATION To: kathyandelvis@yahoogroups.com Date: Tuesday, December 1, 2009, 11:28 AM
A benefit for my very close and dear friend Kathie Bryson, who is battling advanced cancer, will be held in St. Louis on January 30 from 5-10 pm at the VFW#4223 located at 215 Military Road, Lemay, Missouri 63125. There will be a $10 donation at the door. Entertainment will be provided by Tom Christopher and his band, as well as Pam Jo's local band There will be a cash bar, food, silent auction, and some on-line raffle items. Donations of auction/raffle items, and/or cash, are being accepted by Kathie's daughter Brandi and may be mailed to her at: Chad Gabrielson (Brandi) 8 Robin Lane, Fenton Mo 63026 Online raffle items should be sent to me at P O Box 161052, Memphis TN 38186. I will be attending, and at this point Sonny West is making plans to also attend if possible.
Many of you know Kathie- if not by name by face. Here are a couple of pix of her:
If you are unable to attend, or participate in any way, please keep Kathie and her family in your prayers.
Below is the email I received today:
My Kathie is one of the bravest, stubborn, and sweetest people that I know. If there is any way you can participate in the benefit for her whether by prayer, attendance, donations for silent auction or online raffle, it would be immensely appreciated by me, her friends and family. Kathie has done so much to bring liver cancer awareness to people and to show it is not a disease to be associated with alcohol, drug abuse or any other of the negative stereotypes people once used. Kathie is not the only health care worker to have been affected and through her determination she was able to have the bill "Kathie's Law" passed whereby health care workers in the State of Missouri are now tested for hepatitis C. Kathie has one wish on her "bucket list" and that is to go to Hawaii....I am working to see if we can make that happen. We have two travel agents in our club so hopefully a
good suggestion will come from them. As you can see from her email, even in her time of dire need, she is thinking of others...
I received your package today along with my torn up check ( we'll discuss that later, grrr). Please thank Carol who sent the card and the gift of money for me.
I laughed when I saw you had passed on my sassy email. You made the remark about me being so upbeat. That my Sweet Southern Sister, is me going into warrior mode. Lying down and giving up is not an option at this point and feeling sorry for myself is destructive and gives the monster an edge.
It's now in the wee hours of the morning that I try and come to terms with what I'm feeling. I'm not afraid of dying because my faith in God gives me peace. I worry about what it will do to my family, Roger for all his appearance of being "the man", is devastated and it shows. He has been angry with God since this all began and it's escalated now.( R.J.(RJ is her pastor) has told me to let that go). Brandi is frantic and trying to do anything she can to keep me alive no matter what. My sweet Austin, I've asked Brandi to wait until after Christmas to tell him. I dread his reaction as I have been told over and over by Brandi, I am the "grand" mom and he depends on me. They are my life and it breaks my heart to watch them.
I'm not angry at the prognosis, I'm angry that it is hurting so many of my friends and I hate to see them cry, that includes you sister. I'm angry that a drug company would play such cruel games with peoples lives charging a ridiculous price for a medicine. I feel like I'm in a third world country and I'm the peasant depending on the charity of others....that slaps into my pride. I have worked since I was 15 and for the first 10 years of her life it was just me and Brandi. Now to have to grovel to get grants for medicine puts me in an Irish rage.
I am so sad that this has made so many I love sad. I know if I show fear, it will cause them fear and as I said, I'm not afraid to die, I'll just be going back home to God and reunited with my parents, brother and others that are waiting there for me. It's just leaving those behind that breaks my heart. Especially Austin, I so want to see him graduate from high school, the 3rd generation at Mehlville, but that's highly unlikely unless God decides I'm not done here yet. Time will tell.
So my upbeat mood is my way to fight and to choose hope. I have an opportunity that many don't take advantage of. We are all going to die, no one gets out of here alive. But when faced with your mortality, it's time to let those you love know how much you love them, make amends to those you need to, create memories that will go on after you are gone and thank God for the life he has given you. How blessed am I for all the wonderful people that have come into my life, for that I thank that special angel, Elvis, for he has given me a world of friends and family.
Again please express my gratitude to everyone and thank them for the caring and support. And yes sister, you can pass this email on. :-D
Love,
Kathie
~T-Bird Kathie~ Life may knock you down and the cancer may try to take you, but then one day it hits you. Your not just a survivor, you're a warrior. What Cancer Cannot Do: It cannot cripple Love. I have never known anyone who has such an upbeat attitude while facing their own mortality...
WOOHOO! My life prolonging poison is here....and what a Christmas Special! There is enough left of the 2009 grant to order another round. I must order it on 12/21 or risk losing my remaining grant. So I'll get another month's worth for a bargain price ....fa,la,la, la,la,la, la,la.... .
I did this last year with the exact address & my card was returned. I have ni idea why?
