Paulette,

That isn't Kathy on that particular recording of AYLT.  It's Cissy Houston from the Sweet Inspirations....Cissy left the group the following year.

Take Care,

One of my favorite live concert songs to listen to (especially when
I'm feeling blue) is "Are you lonesome tonight" when Elvis can't stop
laughing. I don't think there is one person who can not listen to
Elvis laughing and not break out into smiles and laughter themselves!
Elvis had such a cute and contagious laugh!
What makes it so remarkable is, Kathy is heard singing her high notes
in the background and never once loses her focus or breaks her rhythm
the entire time! I don't know how she did it!
It's the ultimate when Elvis says to Kathy (laughing) "Sing it, Baby!"
I would love to hear Kathy's recollection of that night's historical
event! I assume it only happened once, and never again?

Your welcome, Paulette. You weren't married to my ex-husband too,
were you???? (smile) By the way, you can see him performing on:
YOUTUBE.COM. Just type in: STEVIE WOODS. He should be singing
JAILHOUSE ROCK with all the child support he owes me!

John Wilkinson has asked ElvisMatters to inform the fans about his
medical condition. As you may have read John was taken to the
hospital for surgery. With John's permission, we can now give you
more details. John was diagnosed with colon-cancer. During surgery
two weeks ago, the doctors took away his colon, and a tumor. In order
to be 100% sure that all the cancer cells are removed, John starts
with chemotherapy later this month. In the meantime, he's home to
rest and recuperate.

Given the circumstances, John has cancelled all performances for the
next 14 months – maybe longer, if necessary. But John told us that,
if he feels better after that period of time, he will be `available'
to the fans once again. To quote John: "I will not give up on the
fans, for as long as I may live." What his plans include after his
sabbatical, is unsure. What matters now, is that he takes the rest he
needs and deserves, and prepares himself for the chemotherapy that
begins right after Christmas.

Just like it was before the surgery, we keep in close contact with
John, and if there are developments, we will post the news – needless
to say after checking with John first, or – like now – on his
request. John will be kept informed on what's happening in the Elvis
world, but he'll be `watching' instead of `participating'.

Get well-cards for John are, of course, still very welcome at this
address:
John Wilkinson / ElvisMatters
140 Postelarenweg
2400 Mol
Belgium.

ElvisMatters will deliver the cards to John personally in
Springfield, MO in three weeks time.

Dear Friends, While I will not be in Memphis in January, I will honor my commitment to attend The Cannery event in Las Vegas. The dr said there is no reason I will not be able to fly out there - although I may be a little stiff after the plane ride.   Quite frankly, I did not believe I would be able to attend, but today I feel a little more like myself and the therapist was pleased with my progress today. I have attached a copy of the flyer for the Cannery event for your convenience. I look forward to seeing you there if you can make it.

Could you resend that link Cheri? I've tried everything and can't get it to open either. I agree with you, it's one of my fav things to listen to when I'm depressed. I have a recording of it and find myself laughing the minute it begins.  Then by the end of the song I've forgotten what I was depressed about.

Kathy's take on that version, is as you said Tony, no, it wasn't her on the "main" version played, which is the best version, but Kathy's on "alternate, similar versions," as is Millie Kirkham, and it's because it happened more than you can imagine.

He was always coming up with things out of the blue, causing him to break himself up laughing. He told Kathy from the beginning --- just go out there and have fun, and that's exactly what they did. That's just part of what made them so fantastic.

Hi June, thanks for the welcome back. Honestly this is the hardest surgery I've ever had. I have new respect for people in their 70s and 80s and people who have both done at one time. It is extremely painful and the therapy is excruciating. I think if someone had actually explained to me that they CUT OFF YOUR LEG and put it back together I might have rethought this! But, I needed it so I'm glad the worst is behind me.  thank you for asking.

I am sending lots of love to you and to Kathy and all fan club members for a Merry Christmas and a New Year just full of good surprises!
Love

Oh, sorry about that. I got it from the Always-and-forever Elvis group site.
Unfortunately, I'm not that computerate literate so I only know how to paste & save, but not how to highlite it so it will work. Maybe if someone on this site has access to that site, they can get it for the members here. It was posted as a group of 3 links, & was the first link. The subject line was titled "Are you laughing tonite."

jmoore475@... wrote:

GaryElvis here in Sunny Florida,

What a wonderful year 2007 was!!!!  Lots of new and exciting things happened in the Elvis Tribute Artist world.  And what about EPE crowning the "Ultimate Elvis" Champion in Shawn Klush?  A better performer and ambassador for the ETA world, you'll never find.  Shawn is so phenomenal on stage.  I've had the distinct pleasure of competing among the best ETA's in the world over the past 7 years and I'm convinced that we should all be proud to have Shawn representing us.  Also, what about Ryan Pelton performing with Celine Dion on the Elvis Tribute American Idol show back in April??  Wow!!!!  That absolutely took my breath away.  Again, a better ETA to represent us would be hard if not impossible to find.  Continuing on with the ABC Television show, "The Next Best Thing".  Millions of people watched as each week went by and celebrity performer after celebrity performer was knocked off by the eventual top 3 entertainers, ETA - Donny Edwards, a Frank Sinatra and the top winner, ETA -Trent Carlini.  I personally feel humbled by Donny and Trent's success, being one of only a small handful of ETA's to have beaten them both in tough competitions back in 2005 and 2006.   And then finally, how about the USA Today worldwide newspaper celebrating their choice of the top ETA's in the world.  Donny Edwards, Shawn Klush and Trent Carlini made the top 3, with Trent taking top honors.  Although my final order would have been different, I've got to say, the focus on Elvis Presley in 2007 and especially the focus on the ETA World in general has NEVER BEEN GREATER!!!  We can only guess what lies ahead in 2008 and beyond.  I, for one, am very excited and honored to be numbered in the ranks of those performers who strive to  perform and entertain by paying tribute to the best entertainer who ever lived, Elvis Aaron Presley.

Be sure to support your local ETA and bring non-perishable food and/or a stuffed Teddy Bear to any of their shows for them to pass along to needy families and hospitalized kids.  Let them know you heard about the idea from GaryElvis and the Love Me Tender Day Charity Project.   As a group, we can all make a BIG difference in our communities.

Well, take care and think about making this world a better place to live by sharing a smile and more to all those you come in contact with this Christmas season and beyond.

Love to you all from GaryElvis and Chris Britt down here near Mickey Mouse Land.

God Bless You All,
GaryElvis
www.GaryElvis.com

P.S.  I hope to see you at another ETA competition and festival this year and especially in Windsor, Ontario, Canada June 26-29, where I'll perform and be the host for the 3rd straight year.  Cya, GE

Once the laughing bit happened, it was not unusual for Elvis to think of it  during other Vegas performances singing that song. As Charlie stood in front of him holding the mike. Elvis would sit on a stool, and Charlie would begin to make faces and do is imitations and many times Elvis would come unglued. I am sure Kathy remembers many of these.

I am sending lots of love and prayers for all for a blessed Christmas season. Thank you for your friendship; may it always endure.
Love
