Arangu, Surat is organising Kathakali in Surat on 28th and 29th Nov as a part of
Arangu festival 2009.Artists from Sadanam Kathakali Academy have been invited to
perform. Sadanam Troupe shall be performing 4th time for Arangu. On Guruvayur
Ekadashi day (28/11/09) Kuchelavrittam will be staged in Ayyappa Temple,
Pandesara, Surat. On 29th Nov, the story will be Dakshayagam and the venue will

1. You may see the  Kathakali  Cholliyattam by the great Kathakali artist 
Ettumanoor Kannan, explanations by Dr Gopala krishnan  and Bhagavat Geeth slokas
sung by Kavalam Sreekumar in Amritha TV  morning at 7AM to 7:30 AM every Sunday.

You may get more knowledge about  Bhagavat Getha from the talks of Dr Gopala
krishnan, Kathakali cholliyattam of Kannan and music of   Kavalam  Sreekumar.

Let us congratulate MrKannan and all others involved   in the experiment. Some
time back, I suggested in the Kathakali to be done in other Indian languages to
popularize it. I suggested, Hindi works of Maithily Sharan Gupta  etc for the
same. Though not in that line, I am happy that Bhagawat  Geetha,  the greatest 
master piece of the world is taken as  Cholliyattam experiment by the producers.

This is a new experience and the costumes designed are not of Kathakali  as it
is "cholliyattam"  per say.
  I hope,  you  will write your  experience of this show in this site.


2.Please listen to Dr Gopala krishnan every day morning after 7:AM (IST) in
Amritha TV also where he explains regularly  about our heritages, culture
,Uapanishads ,Vedas etc .

They will be useful to me in my Phd work which I am persuing at Keral Kalmandalam Deemed University. I will be incuding a chapter on "Application of Kathakali-innovative work by Kathakai artistes. I do some such work just as stage shows. No publcity so far. I apprecaite the trend which was stared by late. Guru Gopinath & Anand Sivaram.

Dear Kathakali Lovers,

I have uploaded an "old" recording of Melappadam performed by Sarvashree Kalamandalam Sankaran Embrandiri, Venmani Haridas, Krishanan Kutty Poduval & Appukkutty Poduval in Mediafire. It is copied from a cd having about 45 minutes duration. I am happy to share the link FREE to those who request, since I am not sure whether it is protected by "copy-right rules"

A reciprocative action from co-members of this group is welcome, especially by exchange of old recordings of maestroes like Sarvashree Kalamandalam Nambeesan, Unnikrishna Kurup, Embrandiri and Poduvals
