Hi Guney
It is good to hear from you so quickly!
A little information about myself: I am 52 years of age, have an English mother and had a Greek Cypriot father (he died in September). I have lived on the island on and off since 1967 so have seen many changes, not all for the better...
I work as an archaeological assistant/labourer for the Department of Antiquities in Paphos (Baf) and come frequently (as often as I can) up to the Karpaz, where I usually stay at the Arch Houses or down at the Turtle Beaches - I consider myself lucky to have a number of Cypriot friends in this area and often spend time in the summer helping with the turtle preservation programme. Otherwise, you will find me out walking in the hills, around all the archaeological sites, or along the beaches - the Karpaz is paradise on earth as far as I am concerned!!!!
Although I have come across your website before, I was glad to be able to pick up your information leaflet at the Manolyam Restaurant in Dipkarpaz, and also gave one to a Turkish Cypriot guy who was out hunting that I met. He and I discussed at length the big worry that we have: what has happened to all the donkeys? I only saw a few whilst there this last weekend. What he had to say about what he was seeing while out walking was very worrying...
I also worry about how the provision of electricity will affect the area - personally I feel that the area should be made into an environmental 'park' with no further development permitted.
I am so pleased you have set up this group and would hope that you will accept me as a friend as I very much want to save the extraordinary beauty of this area.
Please keep me informed of any meetings you may have planned, particularly if they are held at a weekend. I have taken out insurance for one year again for my car, so I hope to be able to come every couple of months or so, if not more often!
I look forward to hearing from you and hope that you will give me a little more information about the few members that you have and any events you may have planned for the future. I would love to meet up with you all next time I come.
Sorry about my lack of Turkish - I did start learning it at school years ago where I had lots of Turkish schoolfriends, but I didn't get to continue...!
All for now, and all the best for your group!
Anthea

Hello,
This is a new group established for the members of the Friends of Karpaz Association and we have only a few members here. You can write in English, no problem.
Can you tell me where are you from?
