This Forum is to exchange information about the genealogy, history, culture and past and current activities relating to the Karpatendeutsche/Carpathian Germans, the German ethnic group living since the 12th century on the territory of today's Slovak Republic in the area of Pressburg, the Hauerland in Central Slovakia, and the Zips in the East, incl. farther East in the Karpato-Ukraine in today's Ukraine and Romania. After registering, please introduce yourself by email, and tell the village/city your are looking for, and the family names. When sending emails, try to make the subject line useful! Instead of "Searching for my ancestors" or "Looking for Alexy" (because most family names existed in several places," use "Searching for Alexy from Eisdorf" or something similar. Working languages are English and Deutsch (German). I can handle French, too.
