The University of Mumbai has started a POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN JUVENILE JURISPRUDENCE AND JUVENILE JUSTICE SYSTEM. This is  a Diploma available to a Graduate from any faculty from a recognized University. This Diploma will be conducted on a part-time basis at J C College of Law, Mithibai College Campus, Vile Parle, on Saturday evenings and Sunday mornings, with a view to attract professionals and working individuals, activists from NGOs,  as well as students pursuing post graduation in any other subject.

 

 The course shall consist of Four Theory papers, namely

 i) Child Development and Psychology ,

ii) Laws related to Child Welfare,

iii) Child Abuse, Child Labor, Prostitution and Trafficking Laws and

iv) Juvenile Justice Act and Child Advocacy.

There shall be a practical assessment based on actual interaction with related issues.

 

This Diploma does not merely cover the issues of child abuse; it deals with all aspects of a child's life that involve the law. The Prospectus and the Application forms shall be available at JC College of Law, Mithibai College Campus, Juhu, Tele: 26142346. The Faculty shall consist of eminent personalities from relevant fields such as Dr YK Amdekar, Prof Chandra Krishnamurthy, Adv Maharukh Adenwala, Dr Lalit Kapoor, Dr Geeta Joshi, Dr Anuradha Sovani and others. The Course will be conducted on Saturday evenings and Sunday mornings. The Diploma shall be awarded by the University of Mumbai.

 

This year, the course shall commence on 14^th January, 2006. Examinations shall be conducted by May 2006. The Course fees shall be in the range of Rs 2,000. As the Course Convenor, I shall be happy to assist anyone who needs to know the details.
