Skills and Ability School for Mentally Handicapped/Disabled/Challenged and Hearing Impaired Children.

 ICMH is one of India’s oldest Non-Governmental organizations. Our Primary activity is to run the Skills and Ability Special School.

 

At present we have a fully running school at Nerul, New Mumbai and a Day Care Centre–cum- school at Mulund. We plan to expand the Mulund facility into one of India’s most modern and contemporary School facilities.

 

Our students consist of children with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Spastic, Down Syndrome, Dyslexia and various other mental handicaps/disabilities. The School for Hearing Impaired also runs as a separate shift at our Nerul facility.

 

Under expert supervision of trained faculty, our students are being successfully rehabilitated and are passing state level exams and also winning laurels for India at Disabled Olympics/Games/Athletics.

 

The following staff urgently::

 

a)       Principal/ Head Mistress, Mulund: A mature special educator who is registered with the Rehabilitation Council of India with some experience of heading a special school is preferred. We are looking for a committed specialist with academic and administrative experience, who will be able to lead the expansion of Mulund facility. Though we prefer a Lady Principal, gentlemen teachers with the right experience and skills will be also considered. Bachelor of Education is necessary though a Post graduate qualification is preferred. Those doing their PhD. programs may also apply as long as they are committed to developing the facility with intensive efforts. The Principal will be needed to manage the school, evaluate and adopt newer technologies, set standards for teaching staff and guide the organization in interacting with community and parents. Excellent communication skills combined with infinite patience and a driving zeal along with a compassionate attitude is necessary.

 

b)       Administration /Accounting Staff: Must have knowledge of accounting practices and general administration for a position in the Administrative Office in central Mumbai.   The selected person will, apart from specific duties, be expected to share the workload with our Director – Operations through self initiated correspondence and in general administrative work Computer literacy- MS Office and Internet are a must, Web site designing/ creative applications such as Photoshop and Accounting packages (Tally) will be an added advantage. Even persons having retired or taken VRS may apply.

 

c)       Teachers (Nerul and Mulund): Must have special qualifications for mentally challenged and/or for hearing impaired children, for both schools i.e. Nerul and Mulund.  Previous experience is preferred but not compulsory. Special Educators must be registered with the Rehabilitation Council of India Young driven candidates only.

 

Fluency in reading, writing and speaking English and Hindi/Marathi is a must for all the above positions.
