Reply | Forward Message #8740 of 58330 |
Dear Karmayogis,

"A MOVEMENT CALLED DILAASA FOR FAMILIES OF the MENTALLY ILL."

"A couple of family members suffering from the problems that go with living with an active schizophrenic, a Psychiatrist, a groupf of Para-professionals - all gathered to create a movement called - Dilaasa - Reassurance.

Dilaasa is a self-help group to help those whose loved is a mentally ill patient. Living with a mentally ill person is stressful and like living on the edge. Dilaasa provies reassurance, relief, succor to the suffering family member by giving them information on the problem, awarenesss of the possible solutions and an empathetic ear and all this comes from personal experience because all the members of the group have undergone the same problem. Also, professional help is available at the venue of the meeting.

In a short span of time Dilaasa has grown from 5 members to over 100 members and it is still growing. Every meeting has new faces and that is the measure of the success story called Dilaasa.

On Sunday, 18th of December, 2005 Dilaasa will have a meeting at the Centenary Hall, Masina Hospital, Sant Savta Marg, Byculla, (Behind Gloria Church) from 10.30 A.M to 12.00 P.M.  Eminent Psychiatrist Dr. Devendra Save will give on oration on "Living with a schizophrenic" and on "Dual Disorders" on the occasion. Contact: Mr. Jatish 98195-33496."

The objective is to increase awareness about mental Health problems.

It would be nice if you could bring your organisation`s brochures, pamphlets, literature so that we can further network and help each other to help the suffering.

Since this is a family self help group, there are a multiple dimension of problems that families face and I am sure that together we can make a difference to them.

Jatish Shah..
Psychiatric and addiction Counsellor,
Masina Hospital
