School- Chalo
An innovative and creative educational programme for underprivileged
children, in BMC schools-

Reaching to over 50, 000 children per month through creative education
programmes, LIFE Trust (Landmark International Foundation for Empowerment)
has inked two milestone MOUs with the Brihanmumbai Mahanagar Palika to bring
joy and fun into the schools.

School Chalo, was planned after a detailed research undertaken on the BMC
schools, interviews held with various sections of the Education Dept of the
BMC schools; after studying various facts a creative concept evolved to
bring back the children to school- Thus "School Chalo" was born.

On 23rd November 05, 3 innovative projects are being launched for the school
children under Project- School Chalo.
School Chalo, a first time initiative to make education joyful

Chill Zone- a play room for students of 50 BMC schools will get carom
boards, basket ball, chess and other board games, books, music system and
lots of other toys. LIFE staff will regularly monitor the activities in
these play rooms.

Moving Images- an audio visual van with a library of films for children on
values, environment, social issues, and entertainment to cover 1000 children
per day

Mini- Theatre Project- for 50 Primary schools to make learning fun and easy-
TV's /DVD's and a full set of CD's for learning English and other subjects ,
makes it a fast track learning module.

LIFE Trust was set up in 2000 as an NGO and was established as a Public
Charitable Trust in Chennai. It has been running various activities- an
orphanage for destitute children, vocational schools, clinics, non-formal
schools in villages in Tamilnadu/Gurgoan- In Mumbai, LIFE works in very
close association with the Education Dept of the B.M.C and is running
multiple projects for the 49 secondary schools- some of which are Career
Counselling, Effective Study Habits, Maths Made Easy, Libraries, Value
Education, Field and Industrial visits and intervention with the 18 Special
'(MR)' schools.

On 23rd Nov, at 11.00 am, the Additional Municipal Commissioner, Mr.
Vijaysinh Patankar has kindly consented to inaugurate this novel project at
the S.G Barve Municipal School, S G Barve Road, Kurla (West) Near Station ,
Mumbai.
