Venue: Plenary sessions will be held at the Rail Nikunj Hall/Auditorium, near Maratha Mandir.
Paper presentations and workshops will be held at the YMCA International House and Methodist Centre, YMCA Road, Mumbai Central
The subthemes are: HIV/AIDS, high-tech care, health professionals' responsibilities in conflict, and clinical trials.
A total of 350 registered participants from all over India. There is also a contingent from the Aga Khan University in Karachi, and some people from Sri Lanka, Canada, Australia and the US.
Some interesting subjects being covered in the paper presentations: HIV research, clinical trials, transplants, end-of-life care, on violence and displacement, sex selection. There will be a workshop discussing proposed guidelines for palliative care by the Indian Society for Critical Care Medicine.
The WHO is holding a satellite workshop on international research ethics, and one of the speakers is Alex Capron who runs WHO's ethics division.
