Rotary as an international organization has been serving the world communities in different spheres of life, for the cause of humanity. Our Club has taken up a very important issue concerning women entrepreneurs. On behalf of Rotary District 3140 covering the Mumbai Region, our Club has been honored to host the Seminar on the subject “Women Entrepreneurs and Globalisation”. The purpose of this Seminar is two fold,

Recognition

To recognise the efforts of outstanding women entrepreneurs and to felicitate them.

Inspiration

Today’s young women need to be inspired to take up entrepreneurship and accept related challenges in this changing environment.

Award

On this occasion, to encourage the dashing young ladies to get in to the business arena and show their managerial and entrepreneurial capabilities, it is proposed to honour women who are in their own / family business and have achieved remarkable success. The awards will be given in following categories.

   A. Successful Woman Entrepreneur – Manufacturing Sector

   B. Successful Woman Entrepreneur – Service Sector

The best woman entrepreneur out of any of the above categories will be honoured with ‘Woman Entrepreneur of the Year award’. The successful women entrepreneurs will receive Cash Prize and a Citation whereas Best Woman Entrepreneur will receive a Trophy, Citation and a Cash Prize.

Selection for these awards will be done on the basis following criteria, as may be applicable to nominees in the respective categories.

1.   Must be in the business / top position in the family run organization at least for three years.

2.   Employment Generation.

3.   Business Growth

4.   Quality Consciousness

5.   Export Achievements

6.   Innovativeness

7.   Environmental Awareness and Concerns

8.   Social Responsibilities

Nominations for these awards are invited from successful women entrepreneurs. Nomination for the award can also be sent by a third person provided the third person takes the responsibility for the correctness of the information and sends the declaration to that effect along with the nomination.

Applicants are requested to send the write up in ENGLISH, limited to five pages, giving complete details covering above criteria as may be applicable. Applicants must also send brief history of their organization and family background, and other supporting documents like Balance Sheet, past awards certificates, as well as a photograph of the entrepreneur etc.

After a preliminary scrutiny by the committee, a panel of expert judges will shortlist the candidates. If judges find it necessary, they may invite the applicant for a personal interview or visit the place of business and have interaction with the candidate. The decision of the Judges will be final and binding on the applicants. Organisers will not entertain any correspondence or communication in this regard.

Seminar

The Seminar will invite a group of approx. 300 young women aspirants mainly consisting of final year students of Business Management and the first generation women entrepreneurs, who will be able to have an opportunity to get the views and guidance of eminent entrepreneurs.

As already indicated, the Seminar will be held in Hotel Leela in Mumbai on Saturday the 19th November, 2005 at 3.30 pm, followed by Felicitation Ceremony and will conclude with dinner.

We have invited three eminent speakers to address this Seminar and provide valuable guidance .. Would you be therefore kind enough to circulate the information amongst your clients through Women Entrepreneur’s Cell,  to create an awareness of the seminar as well as to facilitate the eligible women entrepreneurs to send in their entries?
