Dec 12 - 16: Delhi - Learning Matters -- a School Program   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #7071 of 58287 |
In December 2004, Learning Matters launched its operations by inviting Dr.
Mel Levine, a leading developmental pediatrician and learning expert, to
share the current research on learning. Over 700 school teachers, school
administrators, parents, clinicians from all over India were in attendance
for this three-day event. The overwhelming response from participants
further reiterated the need for sharing expertise in the field of learning,
especially for struggling learners.

We are pleased to inform that The Schools Attuned Program - a
teacher-training program that embraces the philosophy and principles of All
Kinds of Minds Institute in Chapel Hill, North Carolina USA will be offered
in New Delhi, India. This Institute is founded by Dr. Mel Levine. The
training program brings neuroscience and other brain-related research on
learning into the classroom. The training will help school faculty
re-examine a child's struggle through a quest to find strengths and talents
along with learning breakdowns. Teachers, principals and administrators have
used this deeper expertise about learning to implement a range of
innovations that are creating more effective learning environments for all
students. The goal is to equip teams of educators with new knowledge,
skills, and strategies so that sound, defensible professional judgments can
be made about instructional practices with struggling learners.

The Schools Attuned Program is a comprehensive yearlong professional
development program for Kindergarten through twelfth standard educators. The
Program has three components: pre-course work, a core instructional course
of a minimum of 35 hours (spread over five full days, being offered in New
Delhi) and a minimum of 10 hours of follow-up experiences (this is done
online). The curriculum is based on focused study (content) and school based
application (process) of eight neurodevelopmental constructs that affect
learning.

Learning Matters is collaborating with Schools Attuned to offer this
training in India. The training dates are 12th to the 16th of December. This
training program can register a maximum of 25 participants only. Ideally,
each school should have a core group of at least 2-4 teachers (counselors,
classroom teachers, administrators, etc.) This ensures the success of the
implementation of the program. The training will be open for schools from
all over India and will register on a first come first basis.

Learning Matters Foundation and All Kinds of Minds are non-profit
educational organizations. Learning Matters is focused on sharing quality
educational practices with the learning community in India. The cost of the
training has been determined by The All Kinds of Minds Institute at 1400/-
USD per participant. The cost will cover all materials.

You may write to us at A-126, Neeti Bagh, New Delhi- 49 or email
lm@... for any other information regarding the
training and in order to register.

Thanking You,
Sonya Philip
