Dear friends,
Some friends have asked me to circulate this information on a media festival
in Geneva, that is going to focus on Indian media.
They want entries for films, media reports etc.
I am attaching the letter.

Best
Kamal
Geneva, the 23rd of November

Dear Madam, Dear Sir,

The International North-South Media Festival, founded in 1985, is held annually
in Geneva. It is an important forum where the worlds of Media, Economy,
Development and Politics interact. It has the backing, for the last 20 years, of
the Swiss Département des Affaires étrangères/ Ministry of Foreign Affairs
(Direction du développement de la coopération), the International Organisation
of Francophonie, City and Canton of Geneva, the Graduate Institute of
Development Studies and the Télévision Suisse Romande. The other main partners
are the trust foundations of Hans Wilsdorf and Foundation of Geneva and the
Mirabaud Bank. It has also an active media participation (Radio and Télévision
Suisse Romande are partners, as are TV5, l’Hebdo magazine, the European
Broadcasting Union …)

Inscribing the city’s spirit and ambition to offer a large stage to reflect upon
the great stakes of the future, the IMNSF consecrated its 2004 edition to “The
End of Oil”, its 2005 edition to “China and its Development” and its 2006
edition to” Global Warming”. This year, for the duration of four days, from the
3rd to the 6th of October 2007, the theme shall be “India”.

This event quickly became a well-known International documentary competition, a
place of reflexion that provides a platform for exchange between development
experts and media and communication professionals. Through all these years, the
International North South Media Festival has discussed and highlighted the
complexities of the world and its differences. It has always encouraged
re-balancing in the domains of information and communication between North and
South and takes a very active role in promoting better diffusion of development
documentaries to television channels around the world.

Just like last year, the Festival will occupy the BFM, a magnificent XVIIIth
century industrial space located in the heart of Geneva, for 4 days. This unique
location allows the Festival to welcome a large number of visitors.

At this prestigious place in Geneva, we propose:

- 40 documentaries on this theme
- 10 colloquiums recorded for television
- An exhibition to heighten public awareness of India and its emergence as a
major Global player
- Prestigious and official evenings
- Television and radio broadcasts.

We enclose an introductive presentation of the IMNSF and remain at your disposal
should you require further information.

Your faithfully,

Jean-Philippe Rapp
Director
