Dear Dr. Sarkar,
It was nice to read your mail once again. It has been a long time since you visited our hospital, we had thought you had gone abroad.
Anyway your mail was interesting. There are just 2 points that I want to tell you. As you know we already have a running hospital, so we can shelter your animals for sometime till a permanent shelter is found. However, birds will have to be caged for lifetime in any shelter, which as an animal lover you would never want.It will also be wrong to release them in just any area, as every bird has its own habitat and the release needs to be advised by bird experts. Releasing love birds or cockatoos, which are most commonly found in pet shops, will die in minutes, if released in just about any area.So for the birds I would suggest that if you buy them off from any pet shop, take the help of a bird expert and then decide the release. We would be able to co-ordinate the matter with you.
As for goats cows etc, simply buying them off and giving them shelter will not be an optimum solution year after year. It is essential that the animal wealth be used. Perhaps it is not known that in many areas of Thane district itself tribals are dying of hunger and unemployment. Thane SPCA is talking to Tribal Welfare Officers and NGOs working with them, and working out a plan where landless tribals will be given rescued slaughter animals like goats and cattle, which the tribals can use for small dairy / egg industry or such other, and be self sufficient. We were talking to the Panjrapoles to supply us these animals, but as our friend, if you would like to do it, we would be most happy.
When your daughter grows up, she will be happy to see that along with animals, even a few human lives had changed for the better and saved from starvation.
Please think about this and let us know. My cell number has changed to 9321212344.
Best wishes,
For Thane SPCA
Debashish Majumdar

Subject: [karmayog] We feed around 300 stray dogs, birds, etc daily

It is really great feeling reading about your love for innocent animals.
No doubt, GOD is always with you in your dedicated work and will
provide with more resources so that you reach to many more helpless
lives.
I and my family also try our best to minimize the sufferings of animals.
We feed around 300 stray dogs, birds, etc daily from my office SEEPZ,
Andheri to our residence at Thane. Started a decade before with few dogs
now it has grown, but we could do very little than what is required. I
have a dream to reach every helpless animal, anywhere.
Love for animal has made me any my family vegetarian since my early
school days, I promote vegetarianism in my professional and personal
surroundings. This has become my priority of life. On 23rd December my
daughters first birthday we wish to purchase as many as animal possible
from meat shop and bring them to a shelter where regular food and water
can be served. The animals will include birds, chickens, goats, cows,
etc. We dream to take care of these animals' years after year. In her
every birthday few animals will be rescued and kept there.
Unfortunately, we do not have a place where these animals may be kept.
If you have place or have information Pl let me know. I will remain
thankful to you ever.
