Oct. 4-7 - Delhi: CSE's short course on Urban Rainwater Harvesting   Message List

Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) is pleased to announce a
short-term training programme on Urban Rainwater Harvesting, from
October 04 – 07, 2006 in New Delhi.

CSE has, over several years, researched and spread awareness about
the immense relevance of rainwater harvesting to urban water
management. Among its most successful initiatives has been conducting
training workshops for various stakeholders, including NGOs,
researchers, RWAs, engineers, architects, urban planning officials,
civic body officials and industry consultants.

The training will be conducted at CSE's Anil Agarwal Green College
and will be led by CSE's Natural Resources Management unit. As this
is a popular course, we advise you to register at the earliest. The
last date for accepting applications (appended below) is Sept. 21,
2006. You may also register online:

participation will be awarded to all participants at the end of the
programme.

Course content
-- Primer on India's rich hydro traditions
-- Urban water scenario in India: Detailed case studies
-- RWH in urban areas: Potential estimation; demand side management
and supply; status of ground water exploration & augmentation;
natural recharge
-- Planning: Hydrogeological, geomorphological & metrological
conditions
-- Design and components: Rainfall, terrain, water table, soil
conditions
-- Maintenance, monitoring & impact assessment
-- Policies on RWH: Legal and fiscal initiatives
Practical sessions will include:
-- Field visits to model project sites designed by CSE
-- Participants will be guided in the design of their own RWH systems
-- Workshops on design, project pricing

Programme Schedule
Date: October 04 - 07, 2006
Time: 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Accommodation: We can help arrange accommodation for participants (at
cost).

Course fee: INR 8,800 for general category & international
participants; 50% less (INR 4,400) only for NGOs, individuals,
students & teachers. Note: The course fee is payable in advance, and
includes instructional course fee, lunch and refreshments, local
transport for field trips, resource and training materials.
Accommodation is not included in the course fee. We will be unable to
refund the fee unless we receive a notice of withdrawal by Sept. 21.
2006.
