Observation on Route Plans for collecting solid waste:
To sum: Route plans need to be standardised, if the information that
they record is to be easily understood and used by others. The
information is very useful - and as some wards are following some
formats, just a little more effort to get it applied all across.
1) A-ward:
a) There is a statement for transport vehicles - both municipal and
private and how much waste is picked up totally- in english
b) Programme: it's a printed format - in marathi - there is a separate
programme number for each route - and all buildings covered are listed
along with how many bins are collected from each
c) another form in english for Collection Spot - which covers a whole
series of roads - which have numbers again - not clear about this -
does the tempo pick up from the roads listed and take to the
collection spot from where a larger vehicle picks up? And "dry waste"
is mentioned for the tempo? Is that enforced or ?
d) Then there is the same marathi format for programme - that is used
for a road (an important road?) - like MG road - but where some other
roads are also included - and again all buildings are listed. No
programme number. Wet waste vehicle is specified.
e) Then the english form (for collection spot) is used again for TDP
(?) - refers to the type of vehicle I think - and the daily schedule
of that vehicle is detailed.
f) Then for A-south - beats are mentioned- that are numbered - but are
filled in a hand-written form - no standard format for this? So all
beat forms are slightly different - depending on who has drawn and
filled it.
2) B-Ward
a) They are called Routes.
b) Hand-drawn and filled in - mentions the roads and collection spots
being serviced - each route has a number
c) Summary mentions which vehicles are slotted for wet waste, dry
waste, hotel waste, house gullies.
3) D-Ward-East
a) Routes numbered based on Contractor's Compactor CC or Municipal
Compactor MC - I think
b) English printed form - has roads - collection spots - time - fairly
well detailed
c) One Vehicle, say MC 1 covers more than one route, and the routes
are based on the roads, so MC 1-road 1, MC 1- Road 2, etc.
4) D-Central
same as for D-East.
