Now includes the States of Texas and Oklahoma. The same problems are occurring in these States that has occurred in Kansas, just to a lesser degree. We are now looking at other avenues of worker health protection issues with the EPA WP adoption of OSHA Standard for Asbestos, and the non-compliance release activities and contamination of buildings with cities, counties, and states allowing demolition of buildings without asbestos removed prior to demolition. We have additional problems with competition from not-for-profit organizations and the "county extension mentality" within the States (Where the demo with asbestos is place comes from quite a lot of the time). Texas and Oklahoma has the same issues but to a much lesser degree than Kansas, but it is still a considerable problem.

The effects are negative impact on the environment, legal precedence being established that allows continuing non-compliance, possible negative impact on public health, weakening of environmental regulations, no growth in the Environmental profession, poor environmental law enforcement, and poor use of financial resources without a committment from the regulators to enforce the law.
In order to influence positive change, we need to come together as a business/interest sector and develope political/lobbying ability to support our interests. We are a large but dilute group that belongs to many different and sometimes competeing associations, and all effected negatively by the current set of circumstances.

Individual environmental professionals in the private sector will NEVER experience the same amount of growth as other business sectors until we support each other. This issue effects us all negatively and will become worse without active confrontation. THIS IS THE PLACE! THE TIME IS NOW!!
