This is of Christen and I right before the ceremony. I am glad that we
became good friends even though as novice steers persons we were often
competing with each other for the same canoes. With that smile I can almost
hear her laughing.

More pictures!

Rupert just sent some photos from their wedding over today.
I am sending them separately because when all four were in the same
document, my e-mail put the pictures horizontally so only 1 1/2 pictures
were visible.

This one is of Christen & Rupert at the alter in a garden at the Biltmore.
Rupert's brother was the best man.

Enjoy!

By the way, these pictures are easier to see in a photo program like Camedia

Hi All-

I just figured out that we could change the REPLY-TO default
settings... so after that long "how-to" I wrote - there's a change.
Now when you chose "REPLY-TO" it will just go to the author of the
email - not to the entire group. This should reduce the chance that a
private email will be sent to a public forum. I hope that when
appropriate people will reply to the group as well so we can keep the
discussion going and keep the page alive.

Thanks,

Lisa

Hi guys,

I think it is wonderful that so many Ka Nai`a friends
are getting involved in the outrigger list and other
paddling resources- it's great to learn new things and
share information with other paddlers.

Just one request, please, that will help us keep
confusion and duplication to a minimum:

Coach has asked that I (as Club Secretary) handle all
e-mail directed to Ka Nai`a, questions about the Rig
Run race, pratices, etc. I receive the outrigger list
postings, the KOA postings, and maintain the club
generic e-mail address.

Of course, before responding, I always check with Mike
and Linda first.

Individuals are welcome and encouraged to send
personal postings, but should not represent club views
or take a stand on behalf of the club. We leave that
to our fearless leaders and official representatives,
Mike and Linda.

Please remember that the outrigger list is a
world-wide forum, and respect of and courtesy to our
coaches, club, and each other is paramount.

Happy paddles to everyone this weekend,
Nikki

Hi,

Sorry Tara - it is a little confusing - so I'm sending this note to the group so
everyone can see how easy it is to make this mistake. When you receive a
message posted to the kanaia group you'll see who it's from but there is an
additional field in the header titled "Reply To" which is set to
"kanaia@yahoogroups.com". When you simply choose to reply to a message it will
be sent to the group. You can instead copy the "From" address and paste it
into a new message - or if you do choose "Reply" you can remove the kanaia
address in the "To" field and replace it with the address you've copied. Be
sure to check the "To" field in the message before sending... it's really easy
to make this mistake.

BTW, I removed you're message from the group page.

When I replied to Bernard and Marina's posted note, I believed that
my response would be delivered to Bernard's personal email address.

I never realized that my response to his posting would appear in the
group listings for Ka Nai' A at Yahoogroups.com.

I would appreciate more information regarding the appropriate
etiquette participating in group discussions.

Respectfully,

Aloha,

A friend sent me this picture, and put a caption on it "Bad Day." The
reality is this is clearly just de rigueur race change practices in the bay
area. Actually this picture is like a metaphor for me after a few hours of
paddling. The guy is just looking for a little snack!

Marina and I are starting to do some running as cross training. I have not
run for about 15 years and Marina never has. We are taking it slow and easy
at first. Anyone who is interested is more than welcome to join us. We
meet at 6:00 PM sharp Monday and Wednesday at the entrance to the City
College track.

Great practice by the way,

Aloha and see you all Thursday if not sooner.

using the conversion chart on the Y2Kanu.com training pages I computed our
speed at Dana at 7.3 miles per hour (statute miles not knots). Not a bad
average if you ask me.
Here's to increasing it to 8 at oceanside!

Well for the first message I would like to thank absolutely everyone for a
terrific weekend. Those rigs were beautiful monstrosities and I can hardly
wait to see them again. The camping was cool, and the food was awesome!
The camaraderie was also nice. I don't know about you but I noticed a
slight change in everyone's mood today. My feeling is that group events
like that really help to bring us together and build team spirit.

We did a card for Bobby Del Castillo we should do one for Kathleen, I think
she did as much as Bobby, but it was more behind the scene so it was not as
obvious. The food was good but a little on the heavy side. Don't you know
that it is illegal to put 3 cut up cakes in front of me and tell me to help
myself.

I have been wanting to do some bicycling as a cross training routine in the
early mornings say 6:00 AM or so. Is anyone else interested? I'm thinking
we meet at the Mission lawn, and go up Mountain Drive, past the reservoir
and out to Westmont. That gives a nice little climb, a good flat run once
your up and some nice downhills. If you live in town you can modify it to
fit your time constraints well. For instance if you only have an hour you
can modify it and go down Stanwood Dr. to Sycamore Cyn. or if you want more
distance you can come down via E. Valley Dr. to Hot Springs Rd. down to the
bird refuge. The best part of this ride is the up hill climb.

Talk to you all Later,

Bernard
