What can I say... finally... race 1 photos are up thanks to DJ.
I also changed out the front page pic.
Also added the calendar pics to the 2k3 page, just for fun.
I also put up the old real player slide show link at the top of the
2000/2001 picture page for you old timers (which I'm sure none are left
now).
Anyone on this list who is actually a current team member... please
pass on this list link and suggest they sign up. I'm not around to
evangelize anymore...
Thanks,
Lisa
Got in a rush this morning an approved this membership request. Sorry... I usually ask for some proof that the person is from Kanaia - but with the race just happening and I was telling a few members about this discussion group - I figured it was safe. I'll be more careful in the future.

This campaign is about Human beings, Democracy, UNHCR, Refugees, The Iraqis, Islam, Kurds, Human rights, Respect, Money, Donations, Angelina Jolie, Pavarotti, Giorgio Armani, Donors, Peace, History, Campaigns and about you if you care about these words.
Hi there,
I am SAM, an Iraqi refugee living in Lebanon at the moment; I have spent the last 10 years of my life as a refugee registered with the UNHCR in Beirut. The last 4 years, I have spent as an activist for peace and human rights (especially refugees and asylum seekers) on the Internet; I'm also books author and ebooks publisher. I have launched many campaigns to improve our situation as refugees in Lebanon and hopefully bring more understanding to our problems worldwide. I helped make many changes and improvements at the UNHCR office in Beirut; I used the Internet as the field for my activities (you can read more about that in my free ebook 'MY CAMPAIGNS'). All my ebooks are free and could be download from my sites.
This is my newest campaign, it's about the illegal and humiliating actions of the UNHCR, who using photos of refugees as banners and human-buttons to collect money. This is an abuse of the dignity and humanity of the refugees and must stop immediately and a clear public apology present by The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. My friends, I am talking about the pictures you can see here: http://lebanon.bluemoondomain.com/human-buttons.htm
For more info about UNHCR and life of refugees you can read my free ebooks. I invite you as fellow humans and members of the world community to support my campaign by reading my article on my site and see the human-buttons. The campaign is to support and improve the UNHCR http://www.unhcr.org especially after the last scandals in the UN and UNHCR, just for example: http://www.mizzima.com/archives/news-in-2005/news-in-april/12-April05-22.htm
You could reach me fast via this form: http://unews.batcave.net/email_me.htm and if you like to know more about me, you can google for my name 'osam altaee'.
Hey everyone,
I just wanted to take a second to say thanks for a great rig run.
Everything seemed to work out real well and the 'word on the beach'
was that all the paddlers really enjoyed the day (except that it
seemed that you moved the rigs a bit further out and those Kai Elua
novice guys are probably tired of huli'ing in the surf...).
Thanks again and see you on the water,
patrick marr
Hey everyone:
Just wonder if any of you guys interested in going to the Oct 21 LV
sprint? We have 2 guys (me and Ken) interested in going but no team.
From what I understand all canoe are provided for. (Unfortunately, no
Co-ed team.)
I'll attach the race info in the "file" folder here. Send me an e-mail
if maybe we can piece together a team???

Tired of paddling through sludge and unidentifiable muck? There will be a
paddle out (kayakers, surfers, etc) in support of clean water policies
tomorrow at noon on the eastside of the wharf. I would like to take a boat
out after practice and show the Mayor and Coastal Commission folks that we
are concerned. Please join us tomorrow assuming that the Ofners give us
their papal dispensation. We have done this before so I assume there will
be no objections. Mahalo, Millie
Hey Ka Nai'a,
This was in the outrigger listserve and may be of interest to you...
I hope all is well with everyone,

Hi Mike & Linda
I am the west coast representative for the Women's National Dragon
Boat Team. We are currently looking to recruit the top female
paddlers in the country to compete at the World Championship races
taking place in Germany, Aug 4-8 of this year. I would like to
present this opportunity to your female paddlers and invite them to
try out. Tryout dates are yet to be determined. I am also holding
practices on the Dragon Boats on Sundays at 8 am if they would like
to come sample the boats at NAC (we are only borrowing the boats I am
not associated with them in anyway).
Please let me know the best way to communicate with your female
paddlers.
Thank you very much for your assistance.
Sincerely,
Elaine Crosier

Hi Simon,
It seems that there's been SO much water going into the ocean that it
would be reasonably safe, but that's only a feeling. I would be interested
in going out this weekend, Sat. or Sunday?
thanks,
Barbara
p.s. Sorry Millie, not Tuesday for me....

Hello everyone:
I am standing in for Jose this weekend. However I wonder how many of
you are planning to be out paddling? From what I heard because of the
run-off, the fire department suggest to stay away from the water for
couple days. What do you think?

I work at Olive and Gutierrez - so I can get down there fairly fast.

From: patrick marr [mailto:patrickmarr@...] Sent: Sunday, January 09, 2005 1:59 PM To: Ka Ka Nai A Group Subject: [kanaia] canoes, storms and high tides...
Hi Everybody, I hope everyone is staying dry!
I think Mike and Linda are out of town, so I was a bit concerned about the canoes. I am sure they left someone in charge but I don't know who it is.
We have been having high tides the last few days and will have them again Monday (7.2' at 8:40 am), Tuesday (7.1' at 9:30 am) and Wednesday (6.7' at 10:20 am). Today's tide (7.1' at 7:50 am) just crested over the lip of the beach and spilled towards the box. The canoes seem okay. For the next few days, the canoes might be at risk during the high tides, especially if the surf picks up. I'll go check on the canoes Monday morning. If there is a problem, is anyone available to help move them further towards the street? Let me know if you can be 'on call' (and email me your phone number). If there is a need to move the canoes, I'd recommend wearing paddling clothes -- the beach is like a big lake and you won't be able to avoid getting wet.
I hope everyone is doing well and having a good new year, patrick
Just a quick update -- the canoes made it through this morning's high
tide. The water was lapping up between the box and rack, but
fortunately, the surf was small so everything is okay. I'll keep you
posted on tomorrow's high(er) tide -- if they make it through Tuesday
morning's tide, everything should be fine...
stay dry,
pat
Hi Patrick,
I'm out at the University, but could be available Tues early morning or
late afternoon if that would be useful. I couldn't be out there until
after 5 today.
Thanks for checking, and I hope your house is okay. My garage and attached
room are flooded, but no valuable losses, just a mess to clean up later in
the week.
cheers,
Barbara

Hi Everyone,
Thanks to Pat for sending this out. I have just been
in touch with Greg Ofner, and he said Mike and Linda
will be back by the end of the week, and he thanks
everyone for their concern and help with the canoes.
He's going to go down tomorrow am again (was down this
morning) to check.
If you need him, you can reach him at gpo169@....
Lisa, can you add him to the e-mail list?
mahalo,
Nikki
