RE: [kagyu] Re: Tormas

As a response to the many responses I've had...

I wanted to create edible tormas; I can put them in the garden and when the
squirrels go on their occasional food hunts during hibernation, they can
have a ready source of food. There are also a lot of birds around and the
occasional cat, and thousands of insects.

As for colour, I think I've only ever seen red tormas, I may have forgotten
though.

I did two so that one can be for the pretas and one can be for the
protective deities.

It would have been nice to make them red, I do love the deep red colour,
they look so striking, but I only had access to yellow food dye, so they're
orangey.
I don't think it overly matters; what matter is the thoughts and prayers.

When I next go to see my Lama, though, I will ask him if he has any specific
instructions on Torma making, that would be most useful!

I'm looking at moving house early in the new year, so I think the next batch
I'll make will be once I've moved; to offer to the pretas at the new
location, and to be an offering for the protective deities after moving.

I do have one question though; using oats... doesn't it just come out like
porridge?

Thanks!

Djon Ma
