NEW COMPETITIVE JUNIOR ROUND ROBIN SERIES

Erica Rosenblum, junior coordinator at Albany Tennis Club at Ridgefield Park on Partridge Street in Albany, has begun a series of Ladder Round Robins for juniors. It is the first series of junior events ever held at the 100 plus year old club,

and it is already attracting a lot of fine varsity and jv players.

Every player who signs up for this Saturday's event, which is being offered for a special $5 fee, will be automatically entered in the on line ATC Junior Tennis Ladder. Not only will they get good competition, but refreshements as well.

It will also be a great chance to hit with both Erica, who is the 2005 Section II High School singles champion, but with Juliana Umeki, Erica's team mate at SUNY Binghamton - the strongest of all SUNY Division I teams.

To sign up, simply go to http://tinyurl.com/2gl6lx  and register on line! Payment is due upon arrival.

For more information call Erica Rosenblum at 459-6212 or email ertennis@... .

NEW CSA WOMEN'S TENNIS LADDER

After receiving a call from local tennis activist, Peggy Keigley, we were prompted to work with her to form a new women's tennis ladder.

This will be an innovative on line ladder where rankings are updated as  soon as matches are entered, and viewable to all participants. It is done using a point system that allows points based on match  expectations. Therefore, you not only earn points by winning a match, but also by losing a match to a higher ranked opponent if you win more games than expected.

Among the possible prizes for those who qualify for the September end of  season tournament is a full year's membership to Capital Region Tennis.

Signing up is also an online process. Simply go to www.csatennis.com  and  click on the Enter Here button. Then click on the link to the CSA Women's Tennis Ladder on the right side of the page, and follow  instructions from there.

Questions can be sent to bob@... .
