This group is dedicated to the study and appreciation of Joseph Campbell (1904-1987), the great modern mythologist, and his works.
Campbell was a philosopher, teacher, and author whose research into mythology, religion, culture, and folklore became legendary. His unique worldview allowed him to connect the threads of human experience through the diverse worlds of art, literature, music, song, dance, architecture, history, anthropology, and science to build a cohesive image of mankind, a mythic arhcetype. This dynamic fusion gives us vital insight into the human condition and a key to unlocking our vast potential. Campbell's numerous books, lectures, and interviews have been published, recorded in audio and visual formats, broadcast worldwide on radio, TV, and film, and spawned a massive movement in mythological/spiritual studies. Campbell and his theories have, in short, become a global phenomenon.
"Myth is the secret opening through which the inexhaustible energies of the cosmos pour into human manifestation..." [Campbell, The Hero With a Thousand Faces]
